Very nice!!! I love the 67 curves. My dad has 4 64-66 cars but I always loved the bigger 67 body...

Love that silver and Ram Air tub! Nice car and congrats on the restoration. Mine is a solid driver with a 400 HO (non-matching #s), air. I've got big plans for it one day, more of a resto-mod in mind. Nothing over the top but will definitely bring it into the 21st century! :)

The '67 sure had some great lines. Coke bottle fenders, pinched grille, frameless side windows are my favorite features.

The '64 was the first muscle car I fell in love with. I was obsessed. Never got to have one though. Other priorities of life took precedence. Maybe some day . . .

I'm really interested to see what comes of your '64, EarlyCat. Keep us posted.

Why do people always take the air filter off when they park/abandon a car?

That's a BIG project. You didn't ask me, but in my humble opinion $4-5K tops in that condition. If it was a convertible, double it. Anything special about it other than the 4 speed, and original motor (assumption)? H.O? Ram Air?

Hope to see completed pics someday after you resurrect her!

  10. It does have air. Original engine. Not mine. A very big project. Ambitious to say the least :).

Oh man! That GTO looks just like the one I owned back in the late 1980's. Brings back lots of good memories. I had a 1969 RA IV Trans Am at the same time. Another Pontiac beast. Thanks for posting those pics. :)

Oh yeah, I also actually USE it! On the way to a 12.6 @ 111... with a lot of as-yet-untapped potential. Engine builder says it should run 12.0's @ 113-115 all day. I just don't want to launch that hard or shift that fast until there are more miles on the car.

That's what muscle cars were built to do! Always find it humorous to watch someone fretting over an over restored muscle car and delicately pushing it on and off a trailer.

Hello Jeff; What is the RPM shift point you are looking at once the motor is broken in?....If an automatic transmission are you running a stall converter? & what stall RPM?. Are you running a 4 link suspension? Drag Radials?...Thanks!...Alex

My car has a TKO600 5-speed and M/T Street Radial drag radials. Rear suspension is the stock control arm setup with boxed lowers and adjustable uppers. Rear axle is a Moser 12-bolt with 30-spline axles, 3.73 gears, and an Eaton posi. Power peak is at about 5800 rpm, I shift at about 6200 rpm. Weak link is cast-iron flywheel with no scatter shield. That was a dumb thing to skip in the build. Makes me nervous to launch over 2500 rpm on drag radials. My engine builder says I should launch at 4500 rpm but I like my feet the way they are.

Engine is Pontiac 400 bored/stroked to 463. 10.4:1 compression. Kauffman Racing aluminum heads. Big Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam. Pontiac Tripower 3x2 carbs/intake (another weak link but it looks so nice). Hedman headers, 3" exhaust with x-pipe.

Hello Jeff; Appreciate the information. You might want to possibly consider an aluminum flywheel. Agree about the "Cool Factour" of the 3x2 set up. Are you running solid motor mounts?...Alex

My motor mounts are kind of custom - they are the stock rubber mounts with a pair of grade 8 bolts installed through the mount "sandwich" to limit travel while still allowing some motion.

    Here's a picture of my engine -

What is up with all of these Pontiac GTO owners on here? It's a Ferrari site!

Oh yeah, by the way, I own a Signet Gold/black 4 speed '67 GTO myself. I got it in '73 when I was just 16 years old, and it's numbers matching. I also had a '65 GTO convertible 30 years ago, but it had a '66 421 in it.
I'm a regular on PY and I recognize some of the cars you guys posted pictures of.
    400 4spd.
