I am new to this site and i have been looking around it for quite a while now and i have to say am very impressed with the site and what i see!! I do not own a ferrari yet :( "Yet" being the key word. I Live in ireland and we are right hand drive like the uk, and there are currently no 348 RHD's in ireland and the Lhd 348's are €50,000. a F430 costs about €400,000 new. If i wanted to import a Rhd 348 i would have to give the government roughly €20,000 in vehicle regestration tax (Sounds crazey but its true) Ireland are the only country in the EU with this tax as it was made illegal due to fare trade agreement but Ireland were allowed keep it, i dont know why. I have been considering for the last 3 years how to get my hands on owning a ferrari. I have one year left of collage and then i enter the working world (as a software architect hopefully) and due to the fact i cant afford a ferrari here i am going to go to the U.K to work for one year or 2 depending on the job i get. I am not planning to spend anything other than what i need to live on and i do have a bit of money stored away at the moment. Once you work and have a car registered in the U.K for more than 6 months you are allowed bring it back to ireland free from Vehicle regestration taxes. A Top condition 1994 348 goes for about 28-30K sterling in the U.K which is about 50K euro but it is Right hand drive. So basically i will be leaving my home and the country just so i can own a ferrari. I will worry about maintainents once i get it. Is there anybody else here sacrificed much to get there ferrari? Its my dream if i even see a ferrari i go crazey they are sooooo rare here in ireland. The UK owners club visited ireland once i was there for the day the f50 was just out and i waited for hours to see it and one turned up. There were 40 cars there overall no f40 or gto though. There was one guy giving people a spin in his 308 i didnt get a go but i got to sit in a testarossa thats as far as my expierence goes (apart from my books, magasines and models) . I will own nothing less that a ferrari in a few years though. Well thats my plan anyway hope ye dont think im too crazey

I'm not sure about the crazy part, but your plan sounds perfectly logical to me.

At the very least, you should pursue your plan just to see more of the world. I've spent time in Ireland and England, as well continental Europe and elsewhere, and I can tell you that while Ireland is a beautiful country, it is homogenous to a greater extent than many other places I've visited. Exposure to London, etc., will be a fantastic growing experience for you, and should you wish to settle in your native country, it will be an informed decision borne of exposure to reasonable options.

I can see this guy living inside his Ferrari, eating two minute noodles and brushing his teeth in public toilets.

Seriously, the majority of people who own Ferraris are comfortable financially to buy them.

    1. Live a good life and enjoy what it has to offer
    2. Save up and buy your first home
    3. Buy your third home.
    4. Make sure to pay off at least the first home as soon as possible.
    5. Buy a third home
    6. Then start thinking how you can buy the Ferrari when you are 50 yo +.

Set yourself a goal and then just go for it. If that is what you want then dont let anyone stop you. I had a dream that before I was 25 I would buy my first Ferrari. Well 2 weeks before I hit 25 I nearly did, and only pulled out as a killer property deal came my way. Bought an M5 instead and the property, doubled my investment, and bought a Ferrari with a share of the profit 3 years later.

Right now I dont have one, but within 12 months I will. Im sure of that.

348 future, you have my support! Not that you need it, but I am happy to see people so passionate about things, whether they be cars, homes, relationships, or whatever. If you set your mind to it and despite everything keep dreaming, you will drive that 348 much sooner than you anticipate!

Best of luck to you and don't let anyone dissuade you from your dreams!

As they say - JUST DO IT!

Hope you manage to keep the motivation up high on that level. Two years of controlling yourself may be hard, but I wish you all the best on your way there :)

Collage woops Lol Yes i am planning on making my car out of old trash and twigs i find on the ground O and ill use a shoe lace as a cambelt. Well as you say Irish is our native language.

Yes i can see what you mean. In reality i will be looking for opportunities to invest too or get a business but if i dont get any chances like that in the near future i will be sticking to my plan!

I wouldent mind seeing the world after i get my car Lol. I really do want to see as much as i can. I do have an idea on how to do this but its after the car so not really thinking about it much yet.

I am reasoning that if i get the car 1st then once i have it i can concentrate on the other things in life like getting my house sorted as i wont be trying to get a ferrari i will have one. And then once everything is sorted then get back to buying my next car. But again that is too far in the future to think or plan.

I have done this before took more than 2 yrs though to get the car i have now which is a very nice car but nothing in comparison. As i never have had a real opportunitie to make good money. One thing is for sure though i will be working to live and have a good time not living to work
