Could someone tell old man winter to leave so my owner can remove the "mouse guard" tennis balls from my tail pipes? 83' 308 QV Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh Man! THATS what those little Tails sticking out of my Exhaust Pipes were....'til I fired her up....
Someone told me last year that some mice built a nest in their 328's muffler over the winter. They said it stunk for quite awhile until the little critters incinerated. I had the tennis balls laying around so I put them to good use. Dave
Dave Some of us don't have the motor in the car, have engine bits stored in the (heated) garage, basement, home office, you name it. No, sir, I am not anxious for winter to be over, I've got to get the project finished first. BTW, trust you have the BB similarly outfitted? Philip
Tomorrow is Groundhog Day, so we'll see how much longer winter will last. Leave the tennis balls on the court. I've found cats to be the best protectors against vermin...
Very good idea... I haven't had any mice get in through the pipes yet... but I had a mouse living in my Elise's engine compartment (it would set my alarm off every 10 minutes by walking past the rear window) for about a week towards the beginning of winter. Have to give that mouse credit though... it stuck around through some pretty "spirited" drives
Not really Skip. Just to be polite, I left your card w/address near my 308 with a note to the mice that reads: "For a good time, go to this guy's house. A 308 & RR is awaiting with fresh Wilton Wool for your bedding. You will find a jar of Grey Poupon to enhance the taste of the fine English leather. Bon appetite!!! I hear a whole tribe of them is headed your way! Dave
The BBI resides on the lift. So unless any of those critters have pressure suits, they may get nose bleeds if they try the climb. I know what you mean about F-Car parts around the house. For my winter project, I am detailing the engine on the Boxer. My in-home office became a paint curing station for parts. It's on it's way back together now. Dave
It's the "while you are in there mania" that has to be curbed. I have my "big" project (dry sump) in progress. The "while you are in there list" keeps growing. ' While I am there, we are adding a lightweight flywheel. Only when you pull the flywheel, you realise you might as well do the clutch too. And I thought I'd get the headers Jot Hot coated. When you do the headers, you realise the ports don't match up to the headers (US versions only believe it or not, Euro and comp match - don't ask). Matching is worth 5 BHP on the dyno (per T Casey of Carobu). So, you've got to match the headers before they go out to be coated, right? Hmm, the alternator no longer fits, well there's this ND unit... And so it continues. Aint winter grand? Philip
Some other Ferrari winter projects of mine are redoing my collection of Ferraris in the Movies and working my way through several computer games featuring Ferraris. Oh the withdrawal...
If you're going to stick tennis balls up your pipes for the winter let me also suggest that you attach a yellow stickee to the inside of your windshield with the note to yourself "Tennis Balls Dummie". Otherwise we're going to get the first nice day of the year in about a month and tennis balls will flying all over the greater Chicagoland area!
I put Post-It notes reminding me that the battery maintainers are on.........not that I've ever driven away with one still connected.
No tennis balls needed today... I soiled the car today as she was despirately in need of an Italian tune up! Is it shallow to derive so much pleasure from driving your dream car???
Spike- YOU SOILED IT............Exactly how do you mean that????????? MAYBE WE DON'T REALLY WANT TO KNOW!
Well, I wish I had a better story than just driving... but I was blasting down the highway, running errands, lots of grit and grime all over her...
