Also painted the steering column with a small modeling brush. One thing I like about POR15 is it will paint right over surface rust.

While interior was out I dyed the seats with a kit from Colourlock. Really happy with the results as in some places the dye was worn right through to the leather.

Got the rocker panel hoses run on each side. Much easier than I thought it was going to be. Only took 2 hours for the four hoses. Will do a separate write up for those interested.

Looking beautiful - love the color combo! Not to be too much of a gram counter, but how much did all that dynamat weigh? (ish) a couple pounds or 50? I would love to insulate when I redo my interior. Please comment on the difference once you get it on the road!

I used the Superlite Dynamat which weighs about 30% less than the regular. I did not weigh the package but I am guessing each box had about 8lbs of material and I used 3 boxes so not too bad.

What material did you use on the firewall and did you use that on the fuel tanks also?

On the firewall I used the fancy stuff from https://www.zircotec.com in the UK. Also used this on the underside of the rear trunk that takes the radiant heat from the muffler. On the gas tanks I used cheaper material from https://www.designengineering.com along with their thermal reflective tape and high temp adhesive as much to keep them clean as cool. A heat gun is very helpful in getting it to form smoothly to curves.

Cleaned old underseal of inside of trunk with acetone then seam sealed gaps to engine bay. This was the subject of a factory service bulletin that looks like was never completed on my car. Cleaned and repainted main trunk area too as that underseal never fully dries so is such a mess to work with and not a great bonding surface for the carpet adhesive. Found more unprimed metal on the underside of the rear frnder panels.

Looks great, John. Do you plan to add any insulation (e.g. Dynamat) between the walls and the trunk liner? I've been pondering that before installing the new cocoa mat... at least on the floor above the muffler and on the engine bay wall.

I thought about it but decided it was better to try to keep heat off that wall on the engine bay side. So used reflective insulation on the engine bay wall and Zircotec above the muffler. I used Zircotec to protect the back side of the fiberglass rear bumpers from muffler heat on my 911 and it worked remarkably well. Time will tell on this application.

My car was never going to be a concours candidate so originality was not a big concern.
