    Hi all,some problem here...

Today i was att the Vehicle inspection , and the lilttle 348 did not pass the "exahuse/emission" test, all the measured values where to high, except Lamda reading that was to low...
The reading was like this (dont know if it is the same name in US and Europe that we have in Sweden).
    CO 2,5 (Ok value 0,5), HC 754 (Ok value 100), CO2500 3,5 (Ok value 0,3), Lambda 0,91 (Ok value 0,97-1,03).

Any good ideas??? , the last time the values was really good...

    Thanks

    Best Regards

    Patrik

Maybe worth cherking your MAFs are within "spec" - plenty of threads on here plus also I did mine too and passed my emissions last week with flying colours and thats with decats (in UK)

At very least get some MAF cleaner and clean them

Patrik, that seems way out of kilter. Had mine tested not long ago with high flow sports cats and it wasn't even close to your values. Maybe try an ecu reset as well as checking the MAFs. Did a reset on mine before the test and these were my results - different way of measuring than your test but no where close to the limits.

Patrik, one other thing, your car is a '91, right? Some of those pass numbers look awfully low for a '91 car. They're not testing it under today's emmissions numbers are they? Thought the numbers were the same throughout Europe so why are some pass numbers for yours which is a '91 lower than for mone that is a '93? Could be wrong but thought emmissions numbers were the same throughout Europe. Obviously yours still look high though.

i dont know how the limits in emission are on a newer or a older Car, but here in Sweden they are cazy about polution/emissions from cars.....if the goverment had their whises come true, there would be no cars, only bicycle´s....

Anyway, i started to tear her down yesterday, went true all the engine ventilation, and alla the hoses was ok, not plugged.

Checked the vac.valves for air into the exhaust from airintake (thinking about if thoose was open and to much oxygen where in the exhaust and fooled the oxynge sensors), but thoose worked like they should.

BUT here is a real surprise, i took out both of the Oxyene sensors.

In picture 2 there is something missing......

The metallcontacts for the Oxygen sensor was not in the plastic "housing", it was in the rubber housing.. the little metal tounge that suppose to hold the contact to the plastic housing was way to long in so it could not grab the housing, maybe someone has change oxygene sensors on it before, and recontacted on the old contact.

Finnaly i tried the sensors with a propane torch and they where working.

im not an expert on cars, but this must be a explenation to the weird results on the emission test....
