Well, after 5 1/2 months my 348 is back home where it belongs. I'm really happy to get it back and drive it after so long on a lift looking at engine parts. It was initially in for a 30k belt change, but we found so much worn stuff it turned into much, much more. Ricambi were great, Daniel and David helped us through a frustrating alternator belt issue where we learned of a new combination of belt and alternator. I'm sort of stuck in a weird place of being super happy to have my car back, but sad because my girlfriend of 6 years left me Sunday night. Well, I'm sure I'll have endless hours of fun in the 348 sans women for a while. I went to a test-only California smog center this morning and got some really interesting numbers : HC (PPM) Speed Max Ave Measured 15mph 112 31 14 25mph 86 20 8 CO % Speed Max Ave Measured 15mph 0.72 0.10 0.02 25mph 0.60 0.09 0.01 NO (PPM) Speed Max Ave Measured 15mph 778 237 117 25mph 717 199 106 The car has a Capristo 2 and hyperflow cats, so I guess she's a clean ol' girl which is good news as I'll reserve the passenger seat for a few really dirty girls ! (just kidding !) Anyway, here's a couple of pics from today and also a pic of my other toy. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great to hear you have her back on the road again mate. Nice pics! That Porker looks nice too. Sorry to hear about your cook man. 6 years was a long time!! But remember this mate........girls come and go, but Ferraris are for life! Now go out there and pick up some dirty crack whores in the 348 you little rascal!! Eeeewwhhhooooooo! (Pap pats Simon on the bum )
that is unfortunate to hear about your girlfriend. That is rough. Fortunately you have that gorgeous car to take your mind off things for awhile until you bounce back on your feet. goodluck, and have fun!
Wow, that looks AWESOME!!!! I love the red on the intake plenum. Sorry to hear of the women troubles, I was there a few months ago. At first it hurts, then it gets better, then it hurts again and eventually its just history. Close off that chapter and move forward. Tonight I have a hot date with a stunning lady, it will be our 4th date and things are looking great. Take heart in the knowledge that you will move forward from here, all things for a reason. You still have a Ferrari!!! And a great Porsche too, Life is good my friend!
Are you freaking kidding me? You're out of a serious relationship but have your Ferrari back? In the golf, that's called "going from bogey to birdie golf."
AHHHHH another Hallmark moment brought to you by your Love DR.... Sorry about your GF I know when your heart is broken it is hard to appreciate material possessions but things do get better. They just get better faster in a Ferrari.... Hang in there.
X2 It will take a while to get over the girlfriend. Take lots of time for yourself and enjoy that Ferrari. Their are millions more women out there brother.
Of the 2 money pits I'm guessin the 348 is way cheaper. A girl can't get you a Ferrari but....Think of all the things a Ferrari can get you. Boil it down this way...Would you rather find a rose on your piano bench or tulips on your organ? BTW sweet ride
5.5 months is a looooooong time to go without driving a Ferrari (particularly if you are from the left coast). Hope you make up for it next few weeks.
Thanks for all the comments and support guys. I think I've decided to do what some suggested, which is just take time to enjoy myself on my own terms. No one to answer to or please and no schedules. I think I'll also get some more carbon for the interior like fatbillybob suggested. LOL. I already have a bunch of MA Carbon stuff, but you can never have too much ! I'm also thinking about a re-flash on the porker, just to tip it over the 500hp mark. Ah, the joys of being single.
Congrats Simon! Glad everything worked out great I've also thought about getting a cheap Porsche to have as another toy at some point. Never owned one, but wouldn't want to spend a lot on one either. Have Fun
Great idea having an extra Porsche around. I once said to a friend of mine, "If you really like to drive, a Ferrari isn't a third-car, it's a fourth one in addition to another sports car." Maybe this isn't the case with the newer ones, but I have certainly found it to be true for the 328, 348 and 355. Case in point - a few weeks ago, we went to drive to the shore in the my 348SS and I couldn't get the drivers side door open from inside (the main door pin had become loose/ jammed - it had also ironically just come back from the shop earlier that day.) Instead of throwing a fit, I crawled out the passengers side and got in the Porsche and went! Without it, I would have been stewing all weekend. Instead, on Monday, I made an appointment and also have the Porsche to drive for the next few weekends it was still there. I learned this lesson with my prior 355, in which the odds were unfortunately about 50/50 for some type of problem on the date of any given planned trip (or if you listen to my wife 75/25.) Highly recommended! -SE
