Dear All, It has been two months or so since I posted. I tried posting a few weeks ago, however did not have success in uploading the pictures. Finally got around resizing the pics. I had bought a 1991 348ts back in October and ran into a few issues including the car not starting,etc... The car was fixed and I have been driving the hell out of it, even in the cold!!! I love the sound of the car, the tight handling and the power! I had the car dynoed it produces 320 at the wheels (I hope I said that right) It has a dual TPS computer chip upgrade, hills enginering slick shift and K&N filter. I wanted to thank everyone for helping me diagnose the problems and fix certain problems. My experience with this car has been great! My advise to anyone looking to buy one of these babies is to ensure they put enough money aside for the repairs. It ran me 8K within the first 3months, to replace the fuse box, exhaust ecu's, clutch and minor service. The car now runs awesome. When I bought the car it had 17500 miles on it and just like murphy's law everything went wrong with it in 8 week. When it broke down on the road, I just smiled, hey it is a toy that is 15 years old! Thank God I had money set aside for this . Further, I have set aside an additionl 8k this year for any suprises. From what I learned at this forum, I did the following on my own. a. Put the window module on both doors to increase the speed of the windows (what a differenc a full 3 - 4 seconds- love it) $200 b. Put a new battery when troubleshooting the car start problem $100 c. New speakers (panasonic -100 bucks -- sounds great) d. Since the passenger window did not work (go up or down) I replaced the switch however it still does not work. I can control it using the driver side switch. I need to look into this! Any ideas? The car drives strong and people just stare at the car! Amazing!!!! In my opinion it is one of the most exotic designs to date, imagine in 91 how it must have been viewed! When I tell people it is a 91 they do not believe it! Well here are pics of the car enjoy!!!!!!!!!! Well done and congrats on enjoying her in the winter. (BTW sorry to hear about the $8K in the first 3 months!)
Congrats on your 348. They are great cars........I've had mine almost 17 years now, and I can tell you that it was a pretty wild design back in 1990. You are from Sparta......my old stomping ground. I went to Lenape Valley HS, and was known to abuse the roads from Netcong to Stanhope to Sparta and Lake Mohawk. Great roads and a great car! Be safe and have fun......Ciao!
Congrats Vishal, Your baby is stunning!! Now, get to know Daniel Pass of RICAMBI AMERICA (one of our sponsors). He's a 348 guy and is wonderful to have in your corner. So, you like the sound of your ts - - hmmmmm - - ? Wait till you get turned on to Hyper-flow Cats and the new X-ost silencer That's all I'm going to say about that Drive happy and in great health. Cheers, Hank
Congrats! I have the same style (red w/ red lower panels and black targa top). My experience has been similar, spent a few bucks at firs tto get everything working well, and have had little problems since. Enjoy it! BT
Congrats on the car! My purchased my 348 about 8 months ago and am enjoying the heck out of it. I take it out every weekend, even in the cold. These car are meant to be driven.
Lovely car! I bought mine quite recently too. So far she has been reliable and fun. I am driving her about twice a week just to make sure she gets enough miles on her.
Welcome to the 348 Brotherhood. Your car looks sweet. Glad to hear you are enjoying it. Ive had mine nearly 2 years now and I love it. People also cant believe it is a 12/1991. Still looks and drives like new. Get and XOST exhaust to really make the car sound alive. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I will try and answer all the questions 1. No Doubt - I will post the pics of the speakers over the weekend, including the model number. 2. Bee Jay - Joe V - I got the Car from AutoToyStore in West Berlin, NJ. I had the car inspected and service manager in edision, NJ vouched for the car. The car drives strong now, so I cannot complain, yup it was 8k but glad I was prepared It is a ferrari after all! 3. Ingenere - I love it up here in Sparta. Just got a feet of snow though. I love the roads, etc.. Just beautiful, the car is so much more fun to drive on these streets than just on the highway! I find myself driving all over the place miles and miles (181, 206, route 80) I have no problem getting lost while I am in the ferrari 4. Hank - I am thinking of swapping the rims with the 355 rims and the exchaust this year, cannot wait to hear it Already bought some stuff from RICAMBI AMERICA. 5. vvassallo - Pap - I might have to wait until summer to get my exhaust since I need to rebuild my cocaine lab, as Pap pointed out my cocaine lab exploded and we got almost a feet of snow hear to top that off! Ernie, speedy_sam, ML84, stuckinkuwait, BT, jmiff348 - Thanks for the compliment and invite into the brotherhood!
[d. Since the passenger window did not work (go up or down) I replaced the switch however it still does not work. I can control it using the driver side switch. I need to look into this! Any ideas. Nice car, glad to see it's no garage queen either. I would say the problem above is the usual 348 multipin plug gremlin. If you do a search with the keywords '348 window problem' or similar you should find lots of info. Basicly the wires going into the multi-pin connector get brittle over time and use then break. It's not too difficault to fix, just fiddley. It's best to have a look now rather than leave it (thats what I did and eventually I lost central locking, windows and red door light!). Some people have completely re wired themselves, I just unplugged the connector from door hinge jam (un screw type) pulled back the rubber sleve (no comments please !!) found the broken wire, resoldered it. you can still (I belive) buy the whole wiring loom piece (for the door) from Ferrari, but I was quoted £575 + V.A.T .. EACH !! Sod that!! it took me 2 hours, a bit of solder and a lot of swear words to fix both sides of the car (I had 2 broke on Passinger side and 5 on drives). I did it as a temporary fix until i had time to strip the doors down ..and that was 2 years ago!! Still works fine... Enjoy. Steve
