So I finally got my 360 Spyder back from the front being repainted. She looked new before, but now she looks right off the assembly line new now. I took some pics of her next to the new R8 in the R8's new spot and my other 2 cars are in the other garage with the wife in the driveway. I will post them this weekend.

In the meantime, some driving impressions of the 360 vs the R8 as I drove the 360 to work today. The R8 is faster through the corners with less body roll and more planted at speed through turns. However, the steering feel of the 360 is lighter and more responsive to minor inputs. The experience driving either is wholly different with both being increadible fun. Almost too different to compare. I love them both as I do all my cars.

I had not realized how much I loved my 360 (well I did love it a lot to begin with) until she was gone 2 weeks. The "how can I miss you if you don't go away" song rang true. I just loved driving her to work today top down in mid 70's blue sky SD weather. It was quite special.

I plan to add a 2 or 3 car garage to have 6-7 garage spaces total and would love to add an Aston AMV8 and possibly a Lambo or SLR. That will be a while though (in theory anyway) . In the meantime, I will continue to enjoy my 4 lovely ladies (and the bikes too).

I had a similar decision to make. I had a 360 and now own a Stradale. I also drove an 07 Aston Martin Vantage and helped a friend buy an 09 Vantage (40more hp, better.. everything).

It was time to replace the Vantage and I was considering an LP560, Gallardo, R8, R10

I was looking for something I could put some miles on and drive on a very regular basis. I also wanted something more fun to drive than my Aston. After 3.5years, the Vantage got boring. It's a great car but it felt slow and uneventful to drive. Don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful but after 36,000 miles, I was over it. I like variety, otherwise, I would considered a Aston Martin DBS or an 09 Vantage. The 09 Vantage is a huge improvement over the 07.

The price of the R10 turned me off. It wasn't a car that I was planning on driving hard all the time so the power difference wasn't going to be that important to me and I didn't see anything else obviously different between the R10 and R8. I thought the R8 was very cool and something I could drive everyday but I thought the interior was too "blah".

I really wanted the LP560- I loved the way it looked vs the Gallardo. When I went to go check some out, the Lambo dealer had me drive an 08 Gallardo 6 speed. I was hooked on the shifting. My Vantage was a 6 speed and I realized that I would miss rowing through the gears. I didn't want to be "that guy" that daily drives his Lambo but not only did I fall in love with the gated shifting, I also found a beautiful and pristine white Gallardo.

The Gallardo is fun to drive but after owning it for a month, I realize that as much as I drive it, I can't get myself to semi-daily drive. I only drive it on the weekends. It's not comfortable like the Aston, the sound system stinks, and the car makes a ton of fan noise. It's fun to drive but nowhere near as fun as the Stradale. The best part of the car is the mid-range grunt and the look of the car. Girls also love the Gallardo- much more so than the Ferrari.

I miss the sophisticated image of the Aston. You drive the Gallardo and you're either the ******* or the rockstar- you drive the Aston and you're the sophisticated guy. I can't take the Gallardo to a business meeting where I can take the Aston.

So now, I'm looking at buying a semi-exotic to fill the semi-daily, comfortable but sporty car role. Had I done it all over, I may have gone for the DBS instead of the Gallardo.

Very interesting. That is why I bought the R8. I considerd and drove many Gallardos, but I wanted a daily driver supercar. I knew I would drive the Gallardo as often as I drive the Ferrari, once a week and never in the rain. The R8 will be driven more and in the rain.

I still have a V8 Vantage on my radar. I still want one. I have driven several and love them as well. I used to have an '02 DB7 Vantage Volante and loved it and the AMV8 is a different beast and I love it more. A sophisticated beauty too.

Thank you. I am always amazed about the reaction my collection gets. I never would have thought. I started collecting as a kid and just slowly added over the years. Most of my Ferrari's are pre Hotwheels deal ones so are rare now. I guess there are a lot more people than I thought who like diecast models. I love them personally.

RD- Your Z3 looks like a modern Cobra. Thanks for the education on BMWs. I needed it.

Always amazes me how much better the R8s look in person compared to photographs. The photographs never seem to capture how very low they are. Living in the sticks here, I have only seen a couple, but they look really exotic mixed in with run of the mill cars and SUVs.

When I grow up (unlikely to happen), I want a garage just like yours.

I do think the R8 looks better in person than in photos. I think that of the California as well, and I imagine the 458 is better in person.

Had an E36 before this one, and loved it, but the E46 is a much funner car. I wish i could afford to pick up an E30 as a "project/track" car.

I have actually never owned an E46. But I have driven one and my M Roadster has the same engine. I think it is the nicest looking M3 ever, and drives very nice. The first M3 I ever owned was an E30. I have also owned two E36 M3's, including a Dinan Stage 2 version.
