I finally broke down and sold my M Roadster the other night. Yep, the one that has been hit way too many times. It was even clipped AGAIN in a parking lot this Christmas. Buyer works for a body shop and I gave him a good deal so he was VERY excited.

Now my 360 Spider is my daily driver. At least until I decide on a new DD. I have to say, after driving the Spider again I am not sure I want to go back to a regular DD.

That makes two of us ...been driving my 360 almost every day, even through our recent rain storms.I must say the top didn't leak like other ragtops I've owned.

There are a number of things that keep me from using my 360 as a DD, not the least of which is that I have a relatively short commute and it takes so long for the car to warm up! I'm half way there by the time the transmission can shift smoothly and/or feel that I can be aggressive with the throttle. How do you guys manage?

My commute is very short as well and I just don't like using it as my daily.

On cold mornings, my 360 takes at least 6-7 miles before it is warmed up. My commute is about 10 miles so I'm 2/3rd there before the car is fully warmed up. I would imagine it would be hard to drive it as DD if your commute was less than 5 miles...I guess you would just have to move farther away from work :)

Just go down several more exits, then turn around. It's not that hard, really.

My 360F1 Spider is a DD and I love it! Two years ago, my DD was Testarossa, but now I enjoy it on weekends!

what I've been told, most of the wear and tear on the engine happens upon starting. I happen to live in Southern California and not exposed to harsh weather. I just short shift ( 6 Speed Manual ) for the first few miles, and then take the long way to work.

I would never use mine as a daily driver- if for no other reason than I want each time I drive it to be special for me, not just a commute :)

    After this comment

I would think you would want another car to use in your daily commute/errands....what will the 360 look like after some parking lot dings/clips! You should buy a beater for the daily errands to keep the 360 nice, although yes the 360 is such a wonderful car to drive and be in every day ;)

You sold your M Roadster? I hope it was a Z4 body style and not the Z3.

It was a Z3 but you really don't want the laundry list of work that was needed. I have to say, I had it for over 10 years and I really loved it. My wife pouted when they drove away.

PS: I am 6'6" tall so it was pretty uncomfortable with the top up.

6-7 mile to warmed up? My oil temp does not move a hair for 15 miles. The water temp comes up quickly.

    +1 on this

Oil doesn't come up too quickly. I would guess 10-15 miles to start to get up in temp. Unfortunately that is about my entire commute. I guess I just have to drive more on weekends.

BUT, my customers are glad that I am driving it more.

I made that mistake twice (a '98 and '99) before learning my lesson and am never selling the one I have now. Um, I am a lot shorter than you.
