i remembered it like it was yesterday....., little over a year ago i got my new 612OTO. It was the ONLY OTO in the country back then. i racked up 4,200 insanely fast miles with zero problems, im sure no one in the world drives a 612 as crazy as i do, testament from my fellow f-car buddies. I can write a book on all the trips and happy stories i have in this car, but im sure u guys know.

but all good things comes to an end, i havnt been driving it much in the last 3 months and my 458 is coming in by the end of the year. It is either letting my scud go, or this go.
I still wish i can keep it as oppose to the scud, but a 458+scud combo makes more sense in my mind than the 458+612. I almost never carry people in the back seat and all my driving is like a bat out of hell. So, the relaxed nature of a 612 doesnt match my needs now. plus i heard the 458 is as comfy as a 612.
But it is still beautiful and i love it. Wish i was rich so i can keep it all and buy new ones!!
I will be emotional when the day comes, it is after all, my first 12 cylinder REAL ferrari!!

    can i disagree with u?
scud+612 is the right combo...having a scud and 458 is like having the same car...scud/612 gives u the complete ferrari experience!

either way, very high class problem to have!

I actually think the 458 could replace both if you don't have need for the back seat. Driven gently, its just as comfy as a 612, driven hard it blows away the Scud. I'd be surprised if you don't sell the Scud immediately after a hard drive in the 458, its so superior.

I kept my 08 612, its winter tires will go back on soon, and I'll add to the 20K I already have on it. The 458, I'll probably flip when the 599 GTO comes in.

The big thing in the 612, is the noise, the V8s can never replace the song of the twelve.

my advice, do as i did , cancelled my order for my 458 and kept my 612 oto rosso corsa / tan int , kept my 430 spider 6 speed manual and purchased a used 07 599 black/black int now thats the way to go , because i drove 458 and i felt it didn't knock my socks off for close to $300k , but when i drove 599 with 2k miles that cost me $225k that really knocked my socks off , so keep the 612 oto its the best all around ferrari and sell scud if you still want 458.

i have the 612+scud for a year now, thinking a stripped scud and a luxurious 458 would be nice.

im thinking the same, but i only got 3k miles on mine special interior scud, so im being a little attached.
i would flip it for the GTO if i acted fast enough, they were all taken like 4 months ago.

i did something crazy, i sold the 599 for the scud.
now i cant get a GTO so may have to get another 599HGTE to replace the 612, but thats another story.
but agreed that 599HGTE+458 would be a good combo.

    i agree on the 599.
but im really worried about the 612, because dealers are already prepped for a 4wd 600horse double clutch 612 replacement that will blow ours away.
I wont hang on to f1 trannys any longer. the new generation 612/599 is just around the corner, 599 maybe a year longer, but definitely dont need my old 612 when the new one comes out next year, so better sell now when its still worth something.

exactly, im taking a US$100k+ hit already.
thats why i might be sticking to V8s from now on because V12s takes a killing ALWAYS....
but i always work against my better judgment so....

i was told from a good source of mine that works at ferrari factory that new 612 replacement will be a 2 door hatch alla porsche panamera look and im told its fugly , and that current 612 is a better looking car and it's going to be close to $400k , so a used 612 oto for under $200k will be a bargain , since there are so few far in between because of the economy collapse in late 2007 and until now , and having owned a earlier model 612 there is a great improvement on 612 oto in every way . so don't be afraid about resale value on 612 oto if you pay $190k -200k.

Dan, after getting used to the 458's Dual Clutch unit, do you think you will like the 599 GTO as well?

Good question - we'll have to wait an see!

Found out today that my 458 is faster in a straight line than an Enzo :) coming onto front straight at NJMP, no point by, Mr Enzo mats it and I pulled 3 car lengths up to him before the braking zone for 1.
