so I had some minor things done to my 488 GTB as I can't stand to leave it dead stock.... I was meaning to do this last month, but christmas is my busiest time of the year got the springs in early december, got the exhaust and downpipes after xmas. capristo full system with the catless downpipes fixed any sound issues, now it's legit mean sounding and definitely up there with a 458 italia that has an aftermarket exhaust. I opted for capristo not only because of sound, but also because my ferrari service pretty much will void the warranty on any other system other than capristo, don't know why. the ONLY issue is that the downpipes now have given me loss of torque and some back pressure but after I tune the car next week, it will be perfect and I'll no loss anywhere. when I'm rolling though, it's even more of a beast. I haven't gone over 165mph yet, but the car still has somewhat low mileage. the suspension is amazing. I stand by novitec fully. the car is on the ground and rides perfect. maybe a 10% loss of stock ride feel at most, but not bumpy as most cars would be. I am maxed out on the front, but the rear can come down maybe 1/2" all I'm waiting on is my custom wheels by ADV1 so I won't waste any money on spacers because the wheels will be in here in 3 weeks or less.... oh, I also painted the front and rear reflectors body color as the european spec car doesn't have them and they were bit of an eye sore. sorry for the pic quality, they're from my iphone Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, nicely done! No hesitation to modify I see. Looking forward to hearing it once you have it tuned.
fck 20mm spacers... waste of money, I have a 20" x 9" front, 20 x 12.5" rear 3 pc forged wheels coming very soon. that will fill all gaps up. and 20mm wouldn't work, remember the stock wheels on my 488 are 1/2" wider than 458 stocks. I think a 17mm would be pushing it and I'm the type to push a wheel heavy, my car is so slammed a 20mm would be touching the rim because my rear tire is tucked... 10 or 15mm for the front is good. 15mm is good for the back, that's if I decide later to rock it this way, but I have my spider coming late summer too. so I don't know. maybe
all of my cars currently are black. I like the metallic black nero daytona on this car. it's almost deep charcoal in the sunlight. I will never do a jet black car again in my life. my wheels coming are also based on a black car, didn't want any other color... my previous ferrari's were red and silver, always wanted a black horse
Want to get the same exhaust combo with the straight pipes but was worried about the check engine light and getting rich ? How did you feel the loss of tourque? The black 488 looks great in LA weather
The OE rims are the same size as the Speciale i.e, OE rears are 11" not, 12". Fronts are 9" OE as well. Your rear rims will be 1½" wider, not ½". Which tyre size are you going to use? The OE 305/30R20 rears are only rated for use on rims up to 11½" wide.
Very nice Ben. I've followed all your builds for some time now and you never disappoint. Hopefully get to see you one day when I make it down to SoCal to drive with Rob, Darren, Mikey and the rest of the guys. Just need to find the right road to drive my car down safely haha.
Nice car and those mods are $. Post up some videos of the sounds. This is probably the first 488 build thread in fchat
Hi Ben, are you going to sell your forged wheels when the ADV1s come in? I ordered my 488 with the stock wheels and now I kind of wish I went forged. My build is locked so maybe I'll buy on the secondary market or go aftermarket as well.....
Imho sounds just as poor as stock, I guess doing exhaust mods on the 488 series cars can only do so much; should have left the original setup and saved some money..
Having personal experience being inside and outside a 488, I think that the mods make the car louder than stock. But from the video, I still don't think it sounds as good as na motors.
+1 The issue is that taking the cats out unfortunately seems to make the turbine whine all the more prominent
