Me love Ferrari long time. After being bored to cerebral atrophy with other Ferrari sites and "seriously" lurking a month or so, I joined F-Chat on 07-20-03. Now hover around 10.75 posts daily. Probably the second most active non-F-Car owner. Say it like it's a good thing, or bad - it's a reality our blessed founder, Rob, is stuck with, too. There's a reason. I like it here. I like you and you and you and... yes, even, scratch that - especially you, you make the timely subject of politics or religion fun to debate in these divisive times. Best thing is, whether or not I agree with anybody's philosophy regarding (again, timely) politics or religion does not color my "judgment" of any individual when it comes to their mode of transportation, be it 2, 4 or more wheels or wings. I strongly suspect this is true for the majority of F-Chatters, active or otherwise. As alluded to, I am short an F-Car. Makes perfect sense if you knew what my ex-wife would gain if I did have one. It would effectively double, triple, possibly even quadruple the "price to pay" for a "dream" car, and frankly, it's just not worth it to see it turn into a nightmare beyond a nightmare already experienced. Like the man said in Das Boot: "Now ve vait." B!tch long ago already got enough on my dime, as she continues to do. I lived, and I learned. So, I read and I learn more about these high-maintenance cars than one could ever know about high-maintenance women. In this accidental community that is Ferrarichat, I've virtually met a cast of very real diverse characters with very real opinions about any topic under the sun and sometimes... unreal cars, most all of whom I'd be glad to share a slice of life with, no matter their place under the sun, or mine. After all, we are the same. The internet may be the great equalizer, but all one can ask is for their fellow man and woman to tell it like it is - otherwise, what's the point? Life is too short for tall tales. So, until "my time" comes, I shall continue to pester one and all hither and thither, all the while honestly being very happy for those who attain, maintain and sustain their Ferraris of any given configuration - yet, not living vicariously through you, you and you... it's just not my style to be "jealous" - though I must say, I am frequently amazed at the financial success some over-achievers have attained. I hope beyond hope that for one and all who have achieved this measure of success, that what truly matters - happiness - is as readily attainable as funds to make such lofty ambitions a reality. Whether this type of over-achievement is yet to see on my end, or that of my fellow non-F-Car caretakers is, indeedly-do, yet to see. One can only hope the fickle finger of fate smiles upon you or me, rather than give a poke where it hurts. As aforementioned, until "my time" comes, I'll post early and often. After "my time" comes, less so - because I'll most certainly be out driving early and often and saying... Me love Ferrari long time.
Glad you have been around Wax. Although well deserving of "Post Whore" classification, I respect your intelligent wandering posts and input on the operation of this community. You're one of the users I can guarantee I'll agree with about whatever you say before even reading your posts.
great thread Wax, ya know, until you mentioned it, i never gave it much thought as to who is or is not an owner. to me its more about character, intergrity and what he / she gives to " us " as a community. thanks for your support with my beater 308 project!! michael
Thanks, gents for the nice, warm, fuzzy feeling. (disclaimer) I'd prefer ladies instead of gents supplying variation of aforementioned nice, warm...
Hey Waxy, we need to chat. Are you going to Monterey? I really do like your bent twisted view of the world. But, then again, you live on the left coast so no surprise there! Happy 4,000st!
Congratulation buddy! Tom is an awesome great gent and everytime, when he drop into the european section, a very wecome chatter, KEEP ON DUDE Wolfgang
Yeah, and it's too bad that to become The One, Wax would have to cut Carbon's head off in a sword duel. Perhaps they will meet at this year's Gathering in Monterey.
Thomas, I didn't even know you were a non-owner, nor do I care. Your presence is always full of intrigue, dry humor or indirect wit with a unique sort of intelligence that gives us an alternative view of the world that we can use as a balance to our own 'alternative' world. Do two alternates make a right? A truely terrible thing to be deprived of the things you love. Just so you too can be an owner I'll be a surrogate owner of your Ferrari if you need one. Just put it in my name and pay the insurance and I'll never tell anyone you own it.
I too am a non-owner. Perhaps that will change if and when a bargain comes along. In the meantime, I may devote my time to more important matters: I'm thinking about changing my name to Graphite McShy.
LOL... Wax, congratulations on being here a year and on your 4,000th post... You definitely bring some interesting flavor to the table, to say the least... If i see you in Monterey, i promise not to brandish my sword until we've at least shaken hands... Hey, Graphite McFly, try not to CARBON copy too much, okay...?
I, too, enjoy reading some of your posts in the past. 4,000 posts in 1 year are a lot! This also surprise me as well as your vast knowledge on many subjects.
Spent a lot of time in Monterey as a kid, so the color of all these butterflies you folks are giving me is beautiful. Don't think I'll go in any F-Chat capacity until I have something to bring to the table, as it were. See, it's not just about my ride, or lack thereof - one goal is to get some American Iron that's really sweet with four wheels for my Pop that take him back to a time and place... meet with him in Monterey, and in so doing, create new special memories to add to the old, let alone give him something to tool with for get-togethers in his own area, where the rite of passage is reenacted by hot-rodders from different eras. Least I could do, considering he is tangentially part of discourse on F-Chat and "real life," via the mixed bag of genetics, environs, lessons given and received and certainly, appreciation for cars. Hope that makes sense.
