if you want to make a little cheap hp its a great time to remove the black plastic intake tubes from under the fenders and wrap them in a heat reflective insulation, takes about 10 minutes and you'll feel a small hp bump
Those are GREAT PICS !! Thank You for sharing. I've never seen a F512M service underway....so I'm I speak for many as I humbly ask for more pics as they become available. I only have regular TR experience, and I enjoy studying the details and upgrades of the 512TR and the F512M.
Dear Ferraristi, Same thing....but I was also thinking that for a car that is worth about 3 1/2 times a Testarossa.....they sure sure do look simular....even under the skin. Perhaps a large part of it's value is in the "only 75 made" ....rare model indeed **no disrespect intended...just my thoughts.** ....disrespect is meant for boxers Shamile Freeze...Miami Vice !
The biggest difference w the 512M is that Ferrari added a secret PusssyMagnet that earlier TRs do not possess
Interesting is that this motor appears to have been taken out from the top. I heard of several F mechanics say that it s easier to do than to drop the sub frame. Looks like fun.. Robbie
The other way to make a few more hp is to remove the intake manifolds and trumpets and radiator catch tank and have them painted w heat reflective paint, just ensure that you tell the painters to seal the parts well so no paint gets inside Also use thermal blanket on the fuel filters, fuel lines I had my air filter boxes painted in thermal paint too I imagine putting a heat sheild between the engine & fuel tank would drop the temps a little too the more you drop the temp the more hp you can make
512 TR and 512M are rigid frame cars, they don't have a sub frame like the Testarossa, this makes the chassis stiffer for improved handling. The drive train unit can only be removed from the top. What production # out of 75 is your car? Who is performing the service at FofOC?
Thanks for that tid bit of info.. I guess that is one of the big differences comparing to the Testarossa. Looks good. R

I've always thought the 512M is a tremendous package. Can you tell us what "major service" entails (in addition to "major expense")?
I noticed something, the oil cooler doesn't have any cooling fans bolted to it...have these been removed to get a little more clearance to pull the motor...?
I don't think it would be more than a 512TR. I had asked one of the techs at my local F pimp what the cost difference between a Testarossa and a 512TR. He said, "you add here....you subtract here....about the same cost in the end. The 512M and the 512TR do not have oil cooling fans. I've heard of people retrofitting the fans and shroud from the Testarossa. On the Testarossa, they do not have to be removed to drop the engine. From what I understand, the sub frame was designed to make the engine servicing easier....than the boxer that came before ( engine pull on BB ) The handling was found to be compromised due to chassis flexing. In the 512 TR they went back to the full frame chassis ( like a BB ) and.....everyone lived happily ever after. Shamile Freeze...Miami Vice !
500 WW...75 came to our shores....figure 1-5 have been tossed, burned, crushed...something....and im sure 490-495 are around.
Please read the thread from Post # 1 onwards. sorry....couldn't resist. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice !
