Here are some better pictures of the frame damage. My body shop is going to weld in new steel frame members. The frame damage is easily repairable. I'll post progress pictures as it happens.. Sorry for the crappy pictures-- my 3-year-old Nikon Coolpix 775 really sux... Just a quick update: My 308 will be going into the paint booth Monday!! Whoopee!! The front lower box-frame was repaired, better than original. Bumper support beams were pulled parallel again. My guy welded in new bottom crossmembers, thicker than original. He also welded in new sheet steel along the right bumper support-looks perfect. He fabricated the creased metal plate that holds up the spare tire panel. Looks exactly like the original one. New radiator and A/C condenser, newly fabricated radiator seats, perfect fit! New lower a-arm is in place. Old arm was bent, and both mount forks were bent. Suspension geometry is correct again. I went with a Euro lower valance, to replace my shattered USA-style one. Funny, it used to be on Big Tex's car, then Sean Fischbach bought it, and I bought it from him! Hope I don't crack it--I may have to raise my ride-height a bit (it's lower-than-stock currently). I'm looking forward to having her back soon! Greg
Sean, Apparently, my 308 valance mount frame is a bit wider than average--both yours and Ferrari Parts Exchange's valances measure the same span-about 3/4" shorter than mine. These cars have too much variance! My original valance measured wider, not just the car. Sorry I didn't call sooner--I'll have a definitive answer today, if your Euro can be made to fit my car. I'll let you know ASAP. Greg
My 308 is going into the paint booth today... After 7 weeks, it's about time!! Frame and body straightened right out, no worries.. (Well, actually, new frame members welded in, no worries!) The biggest problem has been getting the Euro valance I acquired used to fit my car. Lots of prep to get it right.... Hopefully I have the car mid-week next week!!!! I'll post pix... Greg
Car's just about done. Should have it in a few days.. I'll post pix. Kudos to Prestige Collision in Houston... 713.490.7777 They've gone above and beyond on my 308.. Greg
Big Tex, Do you happen to know if that Euro valance was Factory original, or an aftermarket one? My body guy had to alter the right side, it was a bit shorter (1 inch or so) than it was supposed to be. He cut out the front section (near the grill), moved it forward, and used a bunch of filler to get it right. After much prep/sanding, looks perfect! Both sides same length now. Greg
OK, well, it's Wed April 26, and the car is now promised to me Friday, 4/28. This will mean that it took almost exactly 3 MONTHS from date of accident to get my car repaired...!! Just wondering, is this typical, or abnormally slow (or abnormally quick?!) BTW, she looksa bella w/ the new Euro 308 valance--thanks Sean F. via BigTex//! I'll post pix just as soon as I get a good drive out of my system! Greg
They do not get in a hurry, but these cars are difficult to work on, originally lots of lead filler, etc.....it is not easy. You saw the mention of FCA event Saturday AM? We'll be there, maybe with both cars...it sounds nice. No idea on the spoiler, #22641 got lots of mods at Tonkin, after three years on the showroom floor!
The right side never matches the left. Old Ferrari Saying. No telling, it could have been variance in your steel front clip....who knows? Hammer to fit, paint to match.
