Very nice party Ed. You deserve it for all you have done over the years in the Ferrari collector car community(you never get to retire!!). Keep the good work coming for years to come.

Happy Birthday Mr. Niles. I wanted to tell you a quick story. I recently came into possession of an old Road & Track from March 1978 (the 512BB is the cover story). My mother gave it to me recently when she cleaned out the house she just sold. Guess she kept it all of these years as she knew I loved cars and particularly Ferraris. Not to digress, but in the back of the R&T Market Place are 2 advertisements from low and behold some guy by the name of "Ed Niles" on Wilshire Blvd. in LA. I assume you are the same Ed Niles. The 2 ads were for some pretty special cars (at least by todays standards). One is for a 1949 166MM with a 1959 scag rebody and a lusso engine (0012M) priced at $26K and the second advertisement was for a 1952 225 Sport Vignale Berlinetta (0170ET) European Hillclimb Champion priced at $29,500. I don't know if you still have the cars but I thought you'd get a kick out of the 36+ year old prices. Pretty sure they are worth 100-200+ times they were worth 36 years ago ! Sorry I can't upload the advertisements because I'm technologically challenged. Again a happy and healthy birthday.

Rode with Ed in the 166 to a Mark Dees event at the ranch.

Remember the 225 at Bill Rudd's in Van Nuys. A stunning car.

Happy Birthday Ed. What a great life you've led with cars. I've enjoyed many stories from friends that know you. Especially stories of you with the Breadvan. I spent a lot of time with the Breadvan in New Orleans and listening to stories of you with the Breadvan are the subject of legend among our friends. Who knows if that legendary car would exist today if you didn't have such foresight, knowledge and passion!

i wish you health and happiness for a much longer life

Yes, Chuck M., we did have "names" at Sal's. I'd forgotten that I was "Il Duce". Not sure I liked being named after Mussolini.

I neglected to give credit to Tom Brockmiller for the nice photos. When I get old I'll probably get forgetful. Oh, wait, I am old.

A big thanks to all of you! I have been very lucky, with experiences that few share. I guess I was at the right time and the right place.
