As previously posted, I decided to get an '01 996TT as a new daily driver. It came in a few days ago. WOW! What a perfect choice! The performance of this thing blew my mind. I had never driven a Porsche before and expected good performance out of the Turbo, but it exceeded my expectations. It's much more inconspicuous than my Spider, which I prefer on a day to day basis, yet I get a nonstop thrill, so I can't ask for much more. Here are some pics...

Thanks. I do indeed like silver, but I wasn't specific. I would have taken silver, blue, or possibly even yellow. This car happened to be the best deal for the year, mileage, etc... As for the Spider, I actually wanted to get Azzuro California blue, but I wouldn't have gotten it until September, so it came down to a titanium one in April or an Azzuro one in Sept. To me that was an easy choice, especially here in Michigan.

Very cool car. If I see a seal gray 911 turbo in Northville or Plymouth I will know it is you. I haven't seen a seal gray turbo in southeastern Michigan before. The blue leather interior looks great too. On my previous car I wanted to get blue leather but I couldn't find one and I didn't want to wait 6 months to order one.

If you are running the stock exhaust, a change to a freer flowing system, with racing cats, will make a huge difference in how quickly the turbos kick in. The most popular brands seem to be europipe and fabspeed; i put my money on a Ruf, but it did not perform as well as the Fabspeed, which was 1/2 the price. It does make the car a tad LOUD, though. Also, check out short-shifters, better diverter valves and perhaps, different wheels. The nice thing about these cars is that you can **** with them endlessly, and if you know what you are doing, can make significant performance gains. I also endorse the 6 speed site as a good source for contacts and anecdotal information. Enjoy your car.

Whart & TCM - Thanks for the recommendations. I'll check out 6speedonline.com. I still haven't decided yet if I'm going to mod it at all, or if so, to what extent.

scycle2020 - I paid $82k. It's an '01 with 6650 miles. I found that to be a great deal after shopping around the web for a couple of days. All other '01s with similar mileage were going for the high $80s.

Thanks. I saw a seal gray Turbo on 5 Mile & Newburgh about a month ago, then a different one in Royal Oak this past weekend, which had the aero kit.
I've seen quite a few Turbos in Birmingham over the past few months, but none were seal gray. Arctic silver seems to the the most popular color.

Jeff, neat, neat car. Enjoy. 996TTs are THE bargains on the market. For a modest price you can get over 500 HP through Autothority, BTW.

What do you think of your M3?

I was thinking of buying a used one on eBay or a used 2002 CLK55 convertible if I can sneek it past my wife.

I love the M3. I had a '98 M3 years ago and got on the waiting list for my current one as soon as I saw it at an auto show. I'm already on the list for the next generation M3. I've had my current one for over 2 years now and I wouldn't drive it much anymore bcz of the new 911, so I'm gonna put it up for sale. In fact, I was gonna start a new thread asking for advice on where to put it up for sale. It's an '02 convertible with just under 18k miles. It's fully loaded, with all options except for the navigation system. The MSRP was around $64.5k. Not sure yet what I'm gonna ask for it, but probably around $49k.

Can anybody suggest the best place to start putting it up for sale? Ebay, Autotrader.com, any others?

Jimmy - Were you asking if mine has the X50? Or were you referring to what another member was describing as a way to mod it?

I would put in on Autotrader.com first. It is very easy to do and inexpensive. You will definitely get some calls. You will probably get some calls from people that can't really afford the car but that is the downfall to selling your own car. I just sold my Audi TT to a friend of my mom. Maybe you have a friend or a friend of a friend that would be interested. That would be the best case but you might not get as much as if you sold it to a stranger. Maybe someone on the Ferrarichat community would want it too. I would make a new thread telling everyone that your M3 is for sale.

I saw a black 911 Turbo in Plymouth on thursday and I have seen a few silver ones in the past. Have you considered putting snow tires on your 911 TT? I have never seen a 911 TT in the snow. Imagine the looks you would get from people if you were driving that in a snow storm. The crazy thing would be that you would be in great shape. The only thing you would have to fear is other cars running into you. Probably not worth the chance. I remember reading an article in EVO about a Gallardo driven through a lot of snow somewhere in Europe on special snow tires developed especially for it. Did you sell your 360 Modena?

I think that ferrari chat members would be amazed at the number of great cars that are in Southeastern Michigan. I saw a silver 550 Maranello and 275 GTB in Plymouth two weeks ago. Both were silver and I bet both were owned by the same owner. I am hoping I get to see Sergei's Enzo on the road.

I will likely try Autotrader first, as that's where I found my new 911.
I'm not gonna put snow tires on the 911, as like you said, somebody could slide right into me and give me a handful of headaches. It's better just to drive some beater on days like that.

Haven't sold my 360 yet. It's currently for sale at Cauley. I too would love to see Sergei's Enzo on the road. It's no longer at Cauley and from what I hear, he's driving it often, so there is a chance for us to get lucky & spot it.
Track day is later this month and hopefully one of Michigan's two Enzos will be up there.
