For those that followed my clutch change saga last year you know we also had AC issues that were resolved with a new compressor and 10k euros of total cost.

All has been well until we encountered the rare day (2024 at least) where air temps exceeded 30 degC. For some reason, if you park the car after a drive with the ambient above 30 the AC compressor shuts down immediately upon restart and remains deactivated until the ambient drops below 30.

Then it wakes right up as if nothing happened. This has happened twice, first two weeks ago and again on Saturday. On Saturday as we drove from Modena to Courmayeur i turned the system on every time the car reading of external temp dropped one degree. At 29 degrees she came on and has stayed on since. We drove eight hours yesterday with temps 20-25 and the system was working normally.

I can access the live data from the AC system and all the sensors are working and when the compressor is active the treated air temps are 8-9 degC and 44-45 degC when it is off and ambients are above 30.

Something is sending a shutdown to the compressor in startup at high temps. If you start the drive below 30 the system functions normally as you progress to warmer temps. The issue only presents itself when you start the car in above 30degC temps

    Any ideas?

    Bill
