Summary PICTURES COMING SOON Well today has been one of the best days of my life and undoubtedly the best day of my life in terms of cars! We arrived at the Randolph train station and were going to head north to the Lincoln Park Zoo and stop at Bentley Gold Coast on the way there. Along the way I got pics of a 911 and a Boxster. We got to the dealership and were told not to take pictures inside of the building, although we could take them through the windows. I snapped a few pics and was ready to be disappointed, when suddenly they started bringing car after car outside of the building! They must have been rearranging the showroom; our timing was perfect! So as a result I got great pics of a 360 Spider, Flying Spur, Conti GT, DB9, 911 Turbo, 997 Cab, and silver Maybach (will post later). I was really hoping they'd bring the Murci Roadster or Ford GT out but they never did. They all sounded amazing too! But I was a lot happier after that. Then we went to the Hancock to get lunch, and on the way I spotted another black Maybach, not from the dealership, and got a few pics. The license plate was CMG PRES... don't know what company CMG is, but sweet! We decided it was too cold to go to the zoo (we're going to go tomorrow) so we just stayed along Michigan Ave ... meaning they went window-shopping while I stayed on the street corner and took pictures of cars driving by I got an orange 350Z (he saw me and sped up really fast to show off), lots of Jags, an XLR, and an SL500 among other things. Overall a very nice place to spot cars! (thanks rocketboy ) After that I was getting too cold too and went shopping with them. We went to the Comp USA building, thinking it was the mall (I don't know how we missed the huge Water Tower Place sign), but it turns out it was a blessing in disguise. We were just about to leave when I spotted a silver Corvette parked along the road. I haven't gotten any pictures of Vettes with my digital camera yet so ran over to get some. Then out of the corner of my eye I spotted what I thought was ... yep, it was a Maserati QP! It was parked in front of The Peninsula, and was amazing! I figured there might be other nice cars parked around that area so I crossed the street and my fingers and saw an underground parking garage... I went down and the first cars I saw were a Cayenne and an SC430. I thought it was a public garage, and didn't realize it was for The Peninsula. So I got some pictures of those two and started wandering around. Then a valet came and asked me what I was doing, so I said I was just taking pictures because I like cars. I thought I would be kicked out, but he told me to knock myself out. Around that garage I found 3 more SC430s, another Cayenne, an old Porsche, two 996 Carreras, a green XK, a gray 911 Turbo, and a black SL55. There was also a covered Viper but one of the valets, a reallly nice guy, said he would take the cover off for me just because I like cars so much! Great guy! So I ended up getting several pictures of it, it was a beautiful blue white-striped GTS. He also said they usually had a Bentley and a Ferrari too but both were out at the time, so I should come back later if I wanted to see them. I did come back later that night and got pictures of the Bentley (another gray Flying Spur), but the Ferrari still wasn't there so hopefully it will be there tomorrow. I'm really glad the guy was understanding and actually really helpful, instead of kicking me out of the garage. Not much after that, saw a new dark green Solstice and a few more 911s. Overall a great day and thanks to everybody for suggestions especially RocketBoy Hopefully I will see even more cars tomorrow!
Hey, good for you. Sounds like you had a great trip. Too bad you couldn't have made it out to LFSC, Continental or Fox Valley Motors/Lamborghini Chicago. Maybe you will some other time. They'll still be here. Another thing. You being over there in South Bend (Notre Dame) have you ever checked out the Aurburn, Cord, Deusenburg Museum? And I believe that they have a big gathering/Show sometime in the Summer. I've always wanted to check that out. Those are some pretty awesome cars too, IMO.
No I haven't heard of that museum but I'll look it up, thanks. Today I saw a really nice silver Conti GT with awesome rims, and a DB9 Volante, those were amazing. There won't be any pictures after all though ... http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=135644037#post135644037
I am sorry to hear about your camera but at least you have some good memories and images to daydream about during prolonged professor rants while back at school. I am sorry I missed you but keep in touch because as you can see, the Chicagoland area and collection of individuals is really impressive. Keep in touch and I hope you enjoy the rest of your time off. You seem to be really lucky weather wise at least, no snow fortunately but Chicago is definitely living up to its Windy City nickname. Do you have a favorite car spot or attraction in the city so far? RocketBoy
