You Too, Tritone! And thanks, Spike! Yes, that’s been making the round on Mecum the last year or so. Sold at Kissimmee at $1.7m, the a no-sale at $1.5mil (Monterey I think), now it’s back again. Some things wrong with it that may be keeping it from a higher sale amongst collectors, but overall nice car. It also comes on the heels of a few big sales so I think the seller was trying to ride a wave that fizzled. Been driving mine around. Minor things here and there, but nothing major. Final paint will start in February! cheers Dave

Gonna watch it! John K spent time chatting with me when I brought the car to Chicago last November and he had some interesting things to say. I need a big screen in the shop! Cheers Dave Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
for instance? ...... does the 'Professor' know his stuff? (just curious. listen to him on Mecum auctions) .
WAIT A MINUTE ...... WHAT THE ..... .... Is this the same car that sold at Mecum exactly 1 year ago for $1.76 ??? .... It was 'No Reserve' . Did it really sell or 'chandelier' bid? See Post #113 (pg.5) here: Jan 14 2023 https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/148951168/ .
Yes, if you scroll up a little you'll see I mentioned that a few times. Also a no sale later the same year at $1.5m. Same car. No sale at $1.4m this time. Not quite the avenue for these cars and now it has given this one an auction reputation which is never good. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A few adjustments to the car: tucked the front 503 reproduction bumper in 5" and now it sits like it should, added a custom made 2x2 carburetor intake adapter and I'm making the air cleaners this week, and final disassembly begins for paint with correct grille fitment now that the real pieces are here! More to come... Cheers Dave Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's back down to a shell and on the dolly. I'm fitting the front and side grilles. Paint hopefully by June! Cheers Dave Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Exterior paint on Friday! It’s getting closer. Factory color is Federweiss. cheers Dave Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's flattering, Mike. Thank you! I wish I did, but instead in typical artist fashion, all I see is what I could have done better and flaws. My wife tells me to stop doing that, but I can't. Not sure why. I'm beyond proud of it, no denying that, and very hair with it!! Paint in a few days!! Cheers Dave
Sitting in Federweiss just like Elvis’ car is! Sadly, but maybe fittingly, it’s painted on the day of his death in 1977. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login more to come! cheers Dave
Bonhams ....... Result ? https://cars.bonhams.com/auction/29263/lot/137P/1957-bmw-507-series-ii-roadster-with-hardtop-chassis-no-70082-engine-no-40073/ Image Unavailable, Please Login .
No sale at $1.5mil, #70089 was a no sale at $1.6mil, and #70242 was a no sale at a low $1.3mil. The last one I get since it’s been floating around Mecum. But the other two have pretty good provenance especially #70089 which was the car found next to #70079 (Elvis’s car) and restored by BMW. Seems like some high dollar cars weren’t bringing the money. Probably in anticipation of the apocalypse in November! That’s OK with me. Maybe one day I’ll afford one! Probably not. I’ll keep building mine. cheers Dave
a lot of big cars did not sell.... especially Ferrari's. just need that market to go down about 90%... then BAM! I'm in!!!
As I have been saying, the economy is really in a bad place. I would not be selling luxury goods at the moment.
I sure hope this was you Dave........... $300 !!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login I had no idea it was up......I would have snagged it myself.......
Ha! No, that wasn’t me. That engine was going to require a LOT of work with the split case. No thanks. Although it would have been good shop art! I’ve been making progress and here’s some updates. I should be off to the upholstery shop in a few months which will signal the end of the journey! Progress is progressing! The seats and door panels are at the upholstery shop and I'm starting on interior trim out. The trunk is boxed in with removable floor to access the tool storage and jack, and the interior has sound deadening down. I'm starting to trim the carpet, windshield is in, and I'm digging into the finer small details. It's taking a lot longer than I had thought but it's a tedious process.
