Hi all, My Boxer is on BAT: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-ferrari-512-bb-2/ This car was the subject of an extensive resto thread on here about 10 years ago. Thanks.
You deserve top dollar for that gorgeous BB. That car was in my garage for 15 years. I imported 21171 to the states from Ancona, Italy back in 1985. I was the 3rd owner. It was a great runner but it was far from as a perfect car as yours is. Buona fortuna!
I think the color may have hurt it. I think they look best in black or red……just my personal opinion.
Timing and mileage .. would have helped to have documentation on restoration as well I been looking a boxer for a long time ..and just can't figure out pricing at all .. that alone.makea me not jump I thought 300 was a very generous number for a fully restored bbi ..then I see a few over that and many under that .. I am sure if I was to personally visit each one I would understand better how to offer the right number All that being said ..with all the failed bidding going on from viper , vettes to Ferrari..the market is def shifting I really wouldn't even comment on whether or not this was all the money or just a bad day Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
It's a beautiful car, maybe hurt by lack of restoration invoices and that it has essentially sat for the past decade (160 miles since 2013, I believe the seller said).
Nice car. Hopefully deal can be made off platform. I suspect that times are a-changing with the market...
I’m generally not a fan of the Boxer paint treatment, but I think the best one is giallo over nero. There’s one in the current issue of Octane.
Good day Oengus, Maybe... but there are a number of other possible factors as well: a. Less than ptimum time of year to sell (sales are typically quieter in Winter) b. Related to (a) ... it is the Holiday season, many are away or soon to be away and so are not really "looking" for Summer "toys" c. Global Economic uncertainly amplified by two notable ongoing Geopolitical events that could precipitate into something larger d. Higher Interest rates, etc There are certainly less expensive Boxer's available, but by the time one addresses even the basic needs of these cheaper cars, you are putting in some solid $ ...which could easily exceed what the Seller is wanting for his car + the time for the work to be done. Perspective buyers need find someone who truly knows Boxers and have this liaison check and evaluate various cars. Given that these cars are all over 40+ years old, they are not all equal in terms of condition and so trying to determine an average price is simply a guess at best. This no doubt explains the price variations that we are seeing. Cheers, Sam
The car is beautiful. As is the red BBI also for sale from California. I've been watching for a while and the asking prices seem to be higher at the moment than most are willing to spend, unless it is a green car or close to perfect. Is that typical? Or do you think we are in a down cycle? I don't think it is just the time of year, but I could be mistaken.
There are no restoration invoices as it was completed privately, also with the documentation thread, one can see the progress as it was restored. Invoices from 10 years ago aren't extremely relevant as far as money spent. Yes, they can help document what was done, but with the detailed pics it's easy to see it was a nut and bolt resto. The car hasn't sat for 10 years. It was driven sparingly, during that time the odometer was not working, it was sporadic. Hence the TMU stamp from BAT. I drove the car at least 1-2x a month during the last 10 years, with the exception of winter months. It's stored in an climate controlled garage. Thanks, Mike C
Beautiful car overall, and the engine sound it makes in your drive video is epic. Having a 10 year old restoration, non-resale red color, and at least 61k miles (with the rest unknown due to a sporadic odometer), the BAT community usually pays 275k+ for detailed service documentation BB’s with much less mileage. I’m not saying your BB isn’t worth your asking price, I’m just saying if you end up relisting it on BAT, you may want to consider a lower reserve.
Sold #4GTS-R Viper for more than reserve after the auction ended Market is what it is - real sellers real buyers will work a deal. I would love to know what the max height is to be comfortably driving this -
