I gotta say, BeeJay, yours has got to be the all-time-champ "my car arrived" thread. It's still alive and kicking after all these months. I think we ought to just make it sticky -- it should be required reading for newbies.

I plan to do that with my first oil change at 5000 miles. At this rate, that should be around March, just in time for the spring driving season. We had our first rain today, so she (I've decided she's a she, but no name yet) will prolly stay in a lot. Maybe I'll put on the car cover again. I love this car.....and I love everyone here at F-chat. We all get along. Man, it can get pretty nasty sometimes over at the Corvette forums.

You really need to do this gear fluid swap. I'll be happy to change it for you when I come out to Cali this month or next (looking like "next" at the moment) if you and your 348 are anywhere near the North side of LA along the beach.

    The shifting difference is amazing.

I put your 15mm spacers on the rear for now. Visually not much difference and not much difference in low speed handling. I need bigger wheels and tires. I can get the fronts to push really easy, and it doesn't take much to break the back end loose. I think the cornering limits are higher on my Corvette because I have big sticky 275 tires all around. At least the 348 won't spin as readily as the Porsche. I'll keep my eye out for 25mm adapters, and then I'll move the 15mm spacers up front. I guess making the rear track wider than the front only helps the high speed handling, and I haven't tested that yet. Usually my high speed driving is in a straight line.
If anybody ever makes up this way to Santa Barbara County, I'll take you across Harris Grade. It's a mountain pass shortcut from Lompoc to Santa Maria. It used to be Hiway 1, before they re-routed that highway to pass by Vandenberg AFB. But anyways, it's very twisty and technical on Harris Grade, and mountains on each side of the road, perfect for ampliying the 348s exhaust sounds. And at the other end of Harris Grade, five miles of perfectly straight hiway. I've got my own Nurnburgring circuit. And unlike Angels Crest, the road I frequented when I lived in LA, hardly any crotch rocket motorcycles. If I can do Harris Grade once a month in the 348, it was well worth the purchase price. Why do divorces and Ferrari's cost so much? They are worth it.

PS No Doubt, you gotta come up this way while your on the left coast. Holler.

Lancaster/Palmdale isn't that close. About 2 1/2 hours depending on traffic. I have a sister in law in Rosamond, where Willow Springs is, so I make that trip pretty regularly. The halfway point is about Ventura. We could meet, but I have to work on Thursday. I don't get off till 4:30pm. Or you could come on all the way up to slow-poke Lompoc. The Chumash casino has an excellent buffet, and I won 800 nickels last visit. Comes to $40. Of course I gave 400 back.

Thank you sir for your quick response i do appreciate it. And yes I understand that the engine sound comes before anything else, but since I have hi performance x-ost on already I think the boys won't mind. Besides i own a night club music is my life and as you mentioned i can always turn it down to put a big smile on my face.

P.S I agree with modena2904 this thread should be a must read for all newbies like me. ciao tutti..............

Thanks guys. Here are pictures of my new rear plate. It reads "Bee Jay's Ferrari". A good friend at work guessed "Blow Jobs For Freee". He's OK, should get out of the hospital sometimes next week.

You can also see what the 15mm spacer does. Not much difference. The biggest benefit is the ability to clean the calipers without removing the wheel now. I drove the car to church this morning, and something kept brushing my head. I had forgotten that I had put the top back on last night, and my head is brushing up against the top.

    Merry Chrismas everyone.
I drove the car twice across Harris Grade on Christmas day. What a blast. I'm still in love with this car. I'm a little concerned about these Dunlop tires though. I'm getting them loose pretty regularly now that I'm more familiar with the car. Unlike my other tires, they just let go, no squeel. You feel it but you don't hear it. Either the front end pushes in the tight hairpins, or the back end rotates as I give it gas out of a corner, especially if I'm in second. I need wider bigger mo' better rubber. Everything happens really fast in second, especially if you floor it between curves. The brakes are wonderful. The gas mileage is wonderful. My only complaint is about cars either staying right next to you, not passing nor letting you go by. If you want a good look at the car, just ask me to pull over, I don't like cars riding even next to me in the next lane. Lead, follow, or get out of the way. The top has been on the car for most of December, and I'm getting used to my head brushing the top. The boom box makes all the difference in the world. After listening to the tubi, you can switch up and listen to music. I'm at 27k miles and counting. Maybe the miles won't rack up so quick once the newness wears off. But hey, I finally own a Ferrari, and I'm going to drive, like I stole it.
    HAPPY NEW YEAR

Man, Bee Jay, this whole story is just too cool. I decided some time back that I would wait until November, 2009 to purchase my first Ferrari. Now, you go and type up all this stuff about this 348, and you are about to mess up my whole darn plan. AAAHHHH. OK, I have to stay on track.

Bee Jay, have a great time in that car. Drive it as much as you can, and rev it up!.

We are not promised tomorow. Let the money sit in the bank making maybe 4%, or park something in the garage that will put a happy face on that mug. I should have done this years ago, as much as I like cars and driving.

Amen to that, especially the statements that "we are not promised tomorrow" and "I should have done this years ago." I'm fairly new to this forum, but had progressed, with the help of everyone on this forum, to where I had a damn nice 328 in my cross hairs. Then I almost talked myself out of it, for the usual reasons - "Its a lot of money to just park in the garage, I'll lose money if I sell it, I should save the cash and invest, yadda, yadda, yadda." I was, literally, within minutes of cratering the whole deal. Then the phone rang eleven days ago, it was my brother calling to tell me that my father had died from an unexpected and massive heart attack. One minute he was there, the next he was gone. NOBODY is promised tomorrow, a fact which punched me in the gut and upside my head at the same time. As I had progressed in my search, one of the thoughts that always made me grin was the look I was going to see on my Dad's face the next time he visited and saw the car in the driveway for the first time. Now that'll never happen, and if I'd done this years ago he would have. Which is one reason among many why, as soon as I got back home, I picked up the phone, and instead of cratering the deal I sealed it. I'm picking the car up tomorrow. I have the money, spending it won't prejudice my family's security in any way, so I'm by God doing it. I'll send pics asap. Have a great New Year, everyone.

    Welcome to Fchat Robert. :)

I am sorry to hear about your Dad. Very sad indeed. My Dad had some heart trouble around 1 year ago and it really sent shockwaves through the family. Luckily he is healthy now and enjoying himself. He loves my Ferrari also.

I am sure your Dad would have loved your Ferrari also, but dont worry mate, he is up there watching you enjoy it now. :)
