The strut rotates in a sleeve when the gear retract. A large ball joint attached to the strut and a hard point in the wing. As the gear retract, this forces the leg strut to rotate. The gear operate at 135 psi.

I've attended the Top Gun meet in Wellington, FL and it is spectacular. Many of the models in your photos really do look real; in some cases the only giveaways are the two-bladed props.

Really cool! Love the pics of your models!! What a great hobby!

I used to be into RC in a big way when electrics and battery technology were making the shift to brushless and lipos 17 years ago - I built the first 35% electric Extra and flew it at Joe Nall in 2002 at the lunchtime exhibition- great times back then - now you can buy electric motors and batteries off the shelf to do the same job or better -

    Very impressive
Is the Memorial Day event "biggest little air show"?

Thanks, I was wondering if it used the gear quadrant like the P-40. Still wondering what system the Hellcat and F4U use.

    Barry's Corsair is indeed amazing.

At ~1:45 in this video you can see it warming up for a flight at Bomberfield a few years ago:

If you're on a bit of a budget like me here's a much cheaper and easier way to get into an RC Corsair: https://www.motionrc.com/products/rochobby-f2g-super-corsair-pnp

Mine's got over 100 flights, and other than replacing the retracts once have had no issues. A great, gentle flier with over 1:1 thrust and excellent visibility.

Barry - any thoughts about fitting an camera on a pan&tilt mount in the cockpit, for either flying FPV or giving "passenger rides"?

    Something like this:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=984tPA7k3yg

Is the SR-71 Houston based? Would love to see that.

Visibility with these is so tough. Have to really trust it to hold it's heading when far away.
I lost my first electric Blackbird at Scobee this way. Screaming parallel to the runway at about 100 yards away and less than 100' up it started a slow roll, and when I went to correct I guessed wrong and in she went. :(

In the late 1970's I noticed a B-36 RC model, in a shop which had quite a bit of RC products. I assume it was custom built and used a control line. I would guess it was around four to five feet ?

Certainly there were good RC models at the time so it was very possible. I have flown some good sized control line planes and am a good sized guy and I have no desire to hang on the the control line to a 5 ft B36. Possible? Probable. Fun? I doubt it. Assuming 6 engines, you'd want throttle control and 6 throttles on a wire would be a PIA. Then there is the weight.
