    Hi Everyone,

This is what i did for about 4 hours today. Compressed the file as small as I could, my apologies for it being 2MB. The garbled audio stinks as the camcorder/lipstick cam are new to me and this was my first use. Will have better audio in the future.

New Hampshire International Speedway in Louden, New Hampshire (USA) This was only my second try at this particular track and am still learning it so the shift points and turn in may not be perfect. We live, we learn.

Wow, that looked like an empty track. Either you rented out the place exclusively for yourself, or you were so fast that EVERYBODY was eating your dust!

What were the logistics of driving on this track?
Was it organized with some club or organization?
Did you rent the whole track? (seems empty in the video)

NHIS holds open track (practice session) days about twice a month. The track is open to anyone with proper race license and has an approved helmet. Of course your car needs to be in order, but no roll bar necessary and no slow-old POS, etc. The 308 here is a blast to drive... if a bit too low in torque and HP :(

    Cost: $105 from 8am to 12pm

There were not that many people there and the video was shot at around 11am. i basically found a good 'hole' and stuck in it. Guess my lap times had improved a bit since my first time there a few weeks back. Most of the guys yesterday were running about the same lap time but there are open wheel cars, too, that were indeed faster. They had a 25 minute special session for the open wheel guys. Last time i was there it was more crowded.

FYI: Motorcycle guys pay the same cost and have their open track session from 12pm to 4pm.

So get your racing license guys and come on up to New Hampshire... the Live Free or Die state :)

PS: here is another video. The wind was causing the lipstick cam's mic to choke so i added music instead See race video at www.ispexperts.com/nhis090105top.wmv

Wish i was THAT fast, but there were guys on the track with stripped down Miata/etc using R-compound tires and i was on 'lowly' Mich Pilot Sport PS2. Perhaps i need to consider stripping out the 308's interior and dump the AC (dumping AC would greatly piss off the GF as we use the car as a daily driver). So the car is compromized quite a bit :(

    Atta boy!

Nice to see somebody on the track and giving it the spurs.

Especially when they are using some of our parts.

    keep up the good work.

I believe this is your wallet?.....

Just remember, track days are about having FUN... not "winning"... someone can hot-rod a Civic or Neon and dust your 308-sans-AC... big deal, you'll still be having more fun... and the 308 WITH AC will be even more fun.

I'd NEVER consider pulling the AC out of my Stradale... but I might consider running the fuel lines through the AC to get some more power that way, since I'll be running my AC on track anyway. :D

Many thanks for Girodisc (Martin and Eric) for helping with getting the rear brake pad/rotors nicely balanced with the upgraded fronts. The brakes are doing great! The car may not be my 'wallet', yet it is a 'toy' for serious fun :)

It is MUCH better than a 308 garage queen 90+ point scoring concourse car and i bet sthe car here runs circles around those :) The car really does seem to be running great now that she is regularly tracked :)

Amen... and it is fun, in a fun/serious/calculating way. After various sessions during the day i check tire, rotor, oil, coolant temps plus tire pressure, track temperature, etc and write it all down. Am keeping good logs and seeing when feels best and appears to yield better lap times. For now i am really just learning, and the 308 is a good 'learner' car and relatively cheap (by Ferrari standards) until the day comes i decide on a newer Fcar or the new Corvette. Yeah, the new Corvettes seems to be a Ferrari performer yet at 1/3rd the price. This way one could total a new vette, total ANOTHER new vette, and still have money for yet another new vette for the same price of a Ferrari.

Of forget all that and go with a spec open wheel car with extra bits for about $40k or so :)

Tubi??? It is a custom job using glass pack "Cherry Bomb" mufflers. Total cost about $700. The Tubi would probably weight more and offer less performance.
