Great looking car! I have a yellow V8TT and I see an air cooled 911 sitting in the garage too. My Esprit accompanies my blue 964.
Yes I have a 1987 930 with 25k miles, the other car in that garage is a 1994 RX7 R2 modified. Also have a 996 GT2.
Mattyrae - great car! I have always loved the Esprits. What gives it that sound (louder), is it simply hi-flow cats or do you have an aftermarket exhaust as well? How has reliability been for you? Would appreciate any insights/thoughts you have on the Esprit - MD911 and other owners as well. Thanks.
I've been very happy with my Esprit. I've done routine oil changes and had to change out the left O2 sensor. I also had to fix a small leak when the aftermarket intercooler was installed and that's been it. I really enjoy the car. The rarity and philosophy of the car's design is what makes this car special and gives it the characteristics that it has. It's not perfect, but no car really is. I have a few friends who also run Esprit's and they've been rather fortunate as well when it comes to reliability. Only 1 out of the 8 of us has had to do an engine rebuild.
The 2002's and later have the center exit exhaust. Makes a big difference in the sound, vs. the older model that have the exhaust exit far left and right. Heard they sound like 2 4 cylinder cars. The sport cats help also increase the total volume of sound. Had a few leaks, and some needed fluid changes not done by the Dealer before I bought it. Also made a huge difference upgrading to the 2004 model year ECU, full boost in every gear but 1st now, normal is only 5th gear gets full boost. So much faster. Bought the 2004 suspension getting installed next week, car standard is a little squirly under braking, will also dial out some of the tow out in the front. Just one annoying rattle to find, and removed the front rubber lip that attaches in the front, it is way too low and gets ruined over time.
I've always had an interest in the V8s. So 2004 or later. Thx. Your car is the right combo for shure. Nice.
My car buddy has a yellow one. I love that sound and the appearance is stunning. As one poster stated an underated car. Thank you for sharing Lee
I have the centre exhaust installed, larger rad, and on the search for a new ecu. The car has a great backfiring sound....My front lip is removed too, it would smack everything taller than 3cm.
