My dream car ownership is now over, I completed a deal today and walked away with a new car (had to walk as the car isn't being picked up until Saturday - so technially didn't walk away with a new car... I digress!) and some cash in my pocket to go buy a bathroom/kitchen/plasma tv/walls/roof for the new property.

Hasn't really sunk in yet, but the F355 experience for me has been just about perfect. I am certain that in a few years time I will buy the same car again. I loved it so much, for now though my priorities and chequebook lie elsewhere... It's a shame.

I hope you won't mind me lurking on this forum as I've met some great people who I consider to be friends. *wipes away tears* there's a lot of love on this internet chatroom!

    Peace and ferrarilove.

    Congratulations Cal.
Consider yourself lucky to have experienced the joys and pains of Ferrari ownership.
I am sure once you have everything in place, you'll be back for more :)

Cal, sorry to hear she has gone, can sympathise with you on that one. Also a shame it didn't hang around a bit longer until my insurers cough up some cash (which I am thinking is going to be this time next year at the rate L&V seem to work at - can't say I am impressed with them).

What is your temporary chariot of choice whilst between F-Cars??

Good luck with the renovations. I reckon it won't be that long and you'll be back.

    Cal,

If you have to move from a Ferrari to something else, the M3 is not a bad choice. Awesome cars!

    Enjoy.

It'll be sad to see the F-car go, but I'm certain he'll be back in one again, hopefully before he's 30 (that's my plan!).
It's been great fun and the 355 has lived up to and outdone all expectations I've ever had for it.
I took it out for a little pootle last weekend, knowing that it may be my last drive in it, so I made sure I took everything in.(I left Cal on the driveway, rather worried as usual!) It's so beautiful to drive, even when you're not ragging the life out of it, but just cruising along in the sunshine (well, posing, basically...:D) everything feels and sounds so perfect.
I'm definately looking forward to owning another 355 in a few years time.

I'm excited to see what the M3's like, I've only ever been in them on test drives, and you can hardly put it though it's paces with Mr. BM dealer sat next to you...
Hopefully it'll withstand Cal's "Tests", what with his "Panzer Killer" reputation!;)

When we get organised we'll hopefully post up some pictures of the transformation of our home, along with the bit's of it I've managed to break!:D

Foxy, if I don't end up with another 355, the only other 2 cars on my list are a M3 CSL or a 993 Turbo - a mate of mine who has an E46 M3 Cab lent it to me 2 weekends ago so I could get an idea of what M3's are like - got to say I came away severely underwhelmed :( The performance was nowhere near what I was expecting from 340bhp, steering felt very artificial with no feel. wallowed quite a lot in the bends :( :( Was really wanting to like it, as its got a huge reputation, maybe I built up my expectations too much.

Or I have been too spoilt by driving a Ferrari for the past 12 months, and can't get away with comparing anything else I drive to it.

Erik, if you get the opportunity try driving a coupe model, the two are so different, it's almost like driving a different car. I too drove a friends convertible and felt like the chassis was flexing when cornering hard/over bumpy road surfaces, the coupe in comparrison felt much firmer and more planted (not up to 355 standards - but not bad for a 4 seater). The CSL I should imagine is even better - sadly out of reach for myself.

    Regards,
    Cal

I've heard the Cab's aren't as good at the Coupe's, Hopefully the Coupe will be fun to drive!
I haven't really spoken to owners in regards to what they think of it compared to other cars, although I am expecting it to be much better than the E36 M3. BMW have aparently gone back to the E30 M3 roots for this one, and made it much more of a drivers car than the E36 was - TBH, it was nice to drive, what you'd expect from a BMW, but not fun like a "sports car".
You really have to do your best not to compare M3's to something like a Ferrari etc, or you will be dissappointed.
We went from a Lotus Esprit SE Turbo to the E36 M3 and the differences were huge!
Basically, I'm expecting it to be much better than the E36, but not as good as the 355...
Will keep you posted on what we both think after a few weeks of driving it! :)

Sorry to hear Cal - it was a sad day when my 355 drove off down the road (and I could hear the Tubi for another 5 mins after that !!).

Shame you couldn't make it to a CSL (a bit more comparable to the 355 than the std M3)

    Rick
