Nice collection (love the Jag - is that an XJR 100?) - I'm intrigued as to how the Boxster S and 308 compare as a driving experience - on paper they're not a million miles apart

The Jag is an XJR, V8 supercharged producing 395 horses.

I love the 308, the Porsche is a faster better handling car though. My wife primarily drives the Porsche but I love stealing it from her becuase it is a joy to drive. There is a lot of Boxster bashing that you read about. When I drove the regular Boxster I was not impressed, but the "S" is very different.

The bashing is because Porschephiles think the marque went downmarket too far, and now "everyone" has one (especially in California). I've driven the S, though, and it is the real deal. Not rare, but a proper sports car.

Thanks for the replies. I've been considering getting a Boxster S (986 - not a brand new one) sometime soon, but would also like an F-car. However financially if I bought an F-car at best I would be able to afford a 308 as I would have to keep my current Mini as my daily driver. If I went for the Porsche I could sell the Mini and put the money towards my 'buy a 355' fund. Perhaps buying the Boxster would be good - a nice warm-up car if you like before going for Ferrari ownership.

I asked about the Jag as here in the UK they did a limited edition of 100 cars that were black with the alloys that your car has called the XJR 100. I was curious if they had done the same in the US

I don't know, I don't remember anything about a XJR 100. I know that my car is supposed to be fairly rare in the US. There are more XJR's with a different set of wheels. Supposedly each dealership only got one car per year with the wheels that are on my car.

Thanks :) - The Monster is a pride and Joy of mine - I've put countless hours into that thing making it unique and special... Lots of bruised knuckles and bloody floors.

It seems as some of us in this thread have a Mercedes-Benz thing going on. Here is a quick photo of a few of my "family," minus a Porsche or so.
