Thanks for sharing your project's long route to an absolutely beautiful result! I hope that you are able to enjoy many happy miles over the roads with it and will report back with more pictures as the miles accumulate and add patina to the car.

Absolutely stunning...as owner of an E-Type, the Lusso makes my car look pedestrian.

Although I didn't go through a full scale restoration on my car, I did send it to a reputable shop for repair, thinking it would take 6-9 months at best. Imagine my surprise when I got the car back 1 month later! This shop is really one of the greats -- real old school and surprisingly honest.

To Sheehan's point - make sure you do your research. Glad to see you got her back and it looks magnificent - best of luck!

I've been watching this thread since the beginning and I have to say, it's been fascinating, interesting, informative, and the closest thing you'll find to a mystery on Fchat.

Everything about this thread was wonderfully done and the final product revealed is simply amazing.

best thread I've seen in some time... two big thumbs UP!

Post 81, last photo... hats off to the upholsterer. A many finely restored Lussos end up with unpleated map pockets.

I hope you won't mind me saying this, Red Baron, but consider correcting the cold air box details.

Heck what is wrong? ... paint finish?

I'm sure if Auto Restorations got something wrong they would like to know about it.

It should not be wrinkle finish, just satin black. Also not to be critical either(the car is very nice) the top of the door panels should be black not door panel color.

Just shows how hard it is to get all these details right.

I wonder if the car had these items like this before Auto Restorations got the car ... anyway simple things to change :).

Thanks Ed. Just a side comment, the top cap in the rear quarter panels should be black as well to follow the line of the door caps. Heel pads should probably be tan as well. Mike

And the "dead pedal" is not metal, but black rubber with a metal edge, if memory serves. As you say, simple things to change. With such a beautiful resto, you might be well advised to have it checked over by someone who is thoroughly knowledgeable about these small details. As long as it's this gorgeous, it might as well be correct as well.

Mike R, you must be losing your edge. You didn't mention the grill of the air box, nor the thumb nuts.

Ed, you too? Dead pedal not black rubber, but a special pattern of ribbed vinyl-- same as the heel pad. These were typically the same color as the carpet. While we are in this neighborhood, no paint on the thresholds.

Red Baron, hope you are taking these comments in the spirit intended. As obscene as it is, this is the American restoration scene. Guessing from the RHD, are you off shore?

Hi John, To the contrary, Warren deserves a little respite from us nit pickers! These details are fairly small issues, and Ed had it right, since he's gone this far he might as well make it authentically correct. By the way the dead rest should be in matching rubber to the heal pad as you stated, but it is sewn to a matching interior vinyl that covers the entire foot rest. The center bulkhead carpet should have a clear vinyl cover over it as well. Best, Mike
