Mike, sorry about your car. I have and will never understand why people commit property damage of any kind. Maybe if caning was instituted here, or parents would discipline their children, they would grow up to be adults and not just old kids. I like the OT sections of this forum and think they are a plus. Once again I must stress that people need act like adults and not like children. It is sad that a few people always have to ruin things for a larger majority. Sometimes I think that this type of behavior has become the norm for a large percentage of people.

In keeping with the philosophy of the vandal if they are affiliated with this forum, yes.

"To a cop the explanation's always simple. There's no mystery to the street, no arch criminal behind it all. If you find a body and you think his brother did it, you're gonna find out you're right."

    Mike -

What a terrible, terrible story. No matter what the reasons (ie personal vendetta, random act of idiocy, etc.), I'm appalled that someone would intentionally and willingly damage another person's property. What kind of coward would do this?

I also applaud you for your perspective and your attitude.

Knee capping someone or calling names in a public forume get you know where. I too believe in Karma and let's just hope that when the wheel comes back around to the jackass that did this, someone is around to point fingers and laugh.

Good luck in getting the car repaired and safe drive home.

This is a dastardly act but, clearly, you're words and actions show you to be a much bigger man than that coward.

    Good luck with everything.

Totally agree. Respectful debate should be allowed, nay encouraged. Name calling, maliciousness, rage and taking arguments beyond this forum should be punished to the fullest.

Removing P&R from this site gets my vote. Everyone knows that two things people can't talk about intelligently and have reasonable disagreements about are Religion and Politics. So let's have those types of discussions elsewhere, not on this site.

Does this mean I should reflect negatively on the lunches and afternoons spent with people who's company I enjoyed because we don't share the same political or religious views?

How about making it a subscriber only section so you have to contribute more than your opinion in order to debate it with others? Out of sight, out of mind.

    Welcome to the board.

That's exactly the problem. There are a FEW people who can't. You know, some people drive Ferraris real fast. In fact, "gasp," some exceed the speed limit in their Ferraris. Shall we ban all Ferraris because a few people can't handle the responsibility? A little simplistic in my view.

Over 1/2 the car is going to need to be repainted, it's going to need a blend to match the old paint in spots. Paint will be sanded down and spot filler applied to key groove in the body.

Will windows come out and and doors and hoods removed?

This is a $6000-$12000 job and the car is no longer untouched and will have repaint history devalueing it,subtract 10% from value is $15000+/-.

This is $25000 plus in damage which is a felony easily, he police will take this serious if you have proof or a good idea who did it, let the detectives investigate it.

Can you take body pin-stripe and place it along the top and bottom outside edge of the scratch and with a very small brush, paint between the tape? How would this look? Think about it.

Mike, I am so sorry to hear about this cowardly action. I am also very impressed by your handling of this. I have to say, we spent the better part of the day "over the hill" checking out other cars and meeting new enthusiasts and I never once considered my car was not totally safe parked at Concorso, and mine was just a few cars from yours but on the outer edge and much more vulnerable. It must have been gut wrenching to find that someone could do this, and even worse to think that you may "know" them. Your car is beautiful and Sonny has done such a beautiful job preparing it I wish you the best in renewing it. I also hope the bas%ard who did it gets outed, publicly humiliated and more.
Your attitude has clearly illustrated your superiority to the keyer.

The Problem with the P&R section is that there are a lot of true loosers posting there (please don't point out the obvious irony). I mean there are people who truly annoy me there, but if I met them in real life, I would just give them a big Politburo/Brezhnev big sloppy smooch and a handshake.
I respect different opinions however stupid they may be.

However I think that P&R is usefull, to keep other sections on topic. I've seen forums without those off-topics, and main sections were getting polluted by unrelated discussions.

Mike, were there any stores/ATM's in the vicinity? Maybe you can get a Private Dick to look over them?

I really like the idea of making P&R a subscriber based sub-forum, however, as Russiandude has alluded, if you don't have a public sub-forum for this kind of stuff, the crap will start polluting other parts of the general forum (such as Other O/T).

I plan on subscribing to this F-Chat as soon as I can. I think posting on P&R should be a privilege not a right, especially in light of the way things get out of hand there. If all the subscribers abandoned the public P&R forum and instead started frequenting a subscriber-based P&R forum, that would take care of the trolls. You'd still get the big arguments, but you probably won't get miffed, anonomous (or as good as) posters potentially carrying out vendettas on members' cars. What happened to Mike550 is one BLOODY scary thing if you ask me. :( That someone might have taken an on-line debate to this level is atrocious. It's a relief that this nut didn't hurt him personally, assuming that the vandalism was targetted.

Whatever happens DO NOT REMOVE P&R. No one wants that crap to show up on other sub-forums (which WILL happen if P&R is removed).
I purposedly stay out of there, because once you're done browsing, you pretty much dislike 90% of the posters ...
Keep the P&R moderate it heavily as suggested. Just don't let that BS stain the other forums...

To go from bickering like high school girls on F-chat P&R threads to vandalizing one's Ferrari to the tune of $15k+ while surrounded by countless other enthusiasts is a very calculating move with possible enormous consequences. Unless there have been serious threats either on or off F-chat, this doesn't add up. I hope that there is more to this story to justify accusing an F-chatter.

My bimmer was vandalized in March. This was a random act. It was parked near a movie theater. They kicked in the front panel, and the whole side, plus keyed the roof. $6,000 worth of damage. Last summer, the hood got keyed. So, I know how it feels. I reported it, but the Police, of course, can do nothing.
    Sorry to hear this.

I had a fresh Caddy paint job keyed front to back, once.

Damn DuPont Imron held on to one side of the gash, the chips didn;t even fall to the ground! They smashed out the lil' thermometer, too, in the rear view mirror, I had to roll down the windows from then on, to tell if it was "hotter than he11" outside!

I never fixed that car, when people would ask "what happend!!?!!!??", I'd deadpan....."Galvestonian Pinstriping....it's an option."

Now, I was leaving an event as a displayed Art Car, when a Surburban at 30MPH, caved in my left hand door, spinning the car 180 degrees on the wet grass. Good thing my elbow was inside ther car!!

A GM fleet vehicle......deductible was $300,000.00. They paid all repairs.....

That said, you won't find the answer here.

Go paint it..............................put it back in the garage.
