Hi, guys, I'm so sad that today service people told me they have to change the gearbox for my ff cause the oil leaking. I 'm really worried about that. I'm in abudhabi, and the service people seems not so professional, I'm afraid they can not fit it as the factory. The car is 2012, 26000km, what I can do? Any good suggestions, help me pls.

Maybe the technicians are better than the service writers. Have you met the actual tech who would carry out the replacement?

An oil leak means a gasket. I would be suspect. Especially at those miles, you may need a gasket.

The thing that I was told that goes bad by the technicians here in LA is a little wire near the transmission (rear) that burns up and needs to be replaced ... requires a lot of labor. Not an oil leak, again that's a gasket generally.

I'll go to meet tech today, see what happened, but I'm really doubt because even when they want to take the gearbox apart they should get the approve from Italy first. For the replacement how they can do it perfectly?!

They changed gasket already, but still leaking. It seems they can only change the whole part. how much hope I can expect for their accurate replacement? Do you have any idea about the technical level of Ferrari service center outside Italy? This is my first Ferrari, I don't know anything. Thanks

They sound less than skilled to me, yet I'm new here. You have the right idea, the internet is your friend. Search for reviews on this shop ... find the best dealer that you can find ... and get the answers you need via the web.

Is the car out of warranty? I'm assuming yes. If it's less than 30 days out you can extend the factory warranty for 1 or 2 years.

    Good luck with it ...

if the car is under warranty, ferrari maranello has to approve it before they even touch any screw on the car. if Ferrari HQ says Gearbox needs to be replaced then you are covered from cost perspective.

maybe the guys in Dubai at Al-Tayer are more experienced then at Premier? if there is a way to talk to them I would do.

I would suggest bring the car to Dubai service center. Speak to Arif. They have always done a very good job on my car. This should be covered by warranty.

If u are still under warranty it's not a big deal, except for the time it will take to be approved and for u to receive the gearbox.
If u are out of factory warranty and u purchased and extension as I keep on suggesting, read above.
If u are out of warranty and u didnt purchase a warranty, it's not a big deal anyway, 15k euros + costs should do it.
