Traffic definitely sucks here it can be a slow moving clutch killing parking lot at anytime. The roads are not as smooth as I would have thought...you really have to watch out for potholes, heaved cement joints and big steel plates bolted to the roads all that will bend rims. Oh and I scrape the front everywhere even on a freeway once...should have taken before and after LA pics of skid plates. So far Mulholland Drive was the only fun drive I have been on. So I guess I would hide my car too if I lived here and just drive my Raptor lol Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app

Congrats Dave on your dream purchase and very nice interesting road trip. It’s a very beautiful car. Mine is an 08 triple black spider with yellow calipers almost looks exactly like yours. I bought mine from Las Vegas a year and half ago and love every bit of it. And just like everyone else in this forum has said can’t believe I own a Ferrari. Most of the times I walked thru my garage and pinched myself to be sure that I’m not in the dream. Listen, if you travel home by I-5N passing thru Seattle maybe we can meet at Tulalip Casino Resort for picture taken Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well Don and I didn’t get to meet up for pics but I took pics at the Casino where he wanted to meet up. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Well 4 States and 1500 miles in the US with no issues with the law.... Image Unavailable, Please Login 1 mile from the border Washington State Trooper stopped me for no license plate . I showed him my NV trip permit and it had expired yesterday oh s*#t He asked where I was headed and I told him the Canadian border and he said “Canadian border well you almost made it” and then laughed as did I after I realized he was quoting a line from Super Troopers first movie lol lol He let me go with my Canadian trip permit that would be valid in 1 mile. That Trooper made my day Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app

Nice post, I got a F430 spider too. FYI, there is a great place outside of Calgary where you can store the vehicle for the winter. $1200 for the year.... regardless if you use the place in the summer months or not. BTW I can’t believe how cheap insurance is in AB.... and if you store it for the winter, you can just keep fire and theft during the winter months and it is even less. Anyway, owner of the storage place is a great guy.... all the cars stay on trickle chargers and they have a washbay you can use. Personally I like having my garage for our 2 daily drivers and not calling attention around the neighbourhood to the Ferrari. If interested let me know.... I will post the link.
Thanks for the info but I live in Sylvan Lake and have enough room in the garage. Yes Insurance is fairly reasonable especially when you can go to just fire and theft for the winter but it is even better if you get a 19A endorsement and go through a collector policy. So I am looking for someone who can do a accurate appraisals on a Ferrari here in central Alberta. Do you know of anyone ? We should meet up next time I’m in Calgary or your up this way. PM me and I can send you my ph number Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
So the trip ended up being a total of 3300 miles of trouble free fun driving. I’m very impressed with the F430 for a reliable comfortable long trip car. The F430 is a tougher car than I thought it would be. I hit some pot holes, ridges, steel plates and even a 2” steel tubing road debris and thought for sure I would have bent a wheel or through my alignment out but all is good. Being lowered to Euro specs looks really good but everywhere we went in the US I would scrape the front on just about every approach...thank God I have skid plates. In Alberta our approaches for the most part seem more Euro spec friendly so I am glad I went with the Euro spec. One day we did 550 miles and a couple of other days close to that. My wife did get a sore bum from sitting so long but she is not used to driving farther than the next town and I average 250 miles a day at work. We stopped at a Walmart and picked her up a seat cushion which fixed the problem...she’s not ready to go right out on another long trip right now after 3 weeks away from home but she had enough fun that she will go again...but probably not that far next time lol. At 3300 miles so far this year I might already have the Ferrari high mileage record for this whole year and the summer hasn’t even started yet...with lots more driving to go. Yesterday I stopped in at Ferrari of Alberta and Raheem thankfully slipped me right in to get my DRL harness installed and I had the clutch life checked as well as I was a little nervous about wear from all the traffic jams I got stuck in. More good news the Ferrari computer says I have 75% life remaining...I couldn’t believe my ears as my PPI on whichever computer system they used only showed 40% remaining, so I bought the car thinking I would have a clutch job probably next season. The Ferrari Tech Dante did a quick overall check of the car and a quick drive to confirm everything feels right with the car as I am no expert how it should all feel for ride and clutch/shifting and all was good. He went over the correct way to check the oil and looked over the bills for the work I had done in Chicago to make sure it all looked good and nothing missed. I will be booking with Dante for all my service needs as he and Ferrari of Alberta were awesome to deal with I took the car in today for all the inspections to get registered in Alberta and it is now officially imported and registered. It's a 1990 Mustang GT Cobra Convertible that I did a Resto/Mod on over a 18 month period. Every nut and bolt was off and I only had the paint and body work out sourced. It has a 1993 Cobra SVT engine in it #3186 of 5100 built. Yes back in the day they were the best bang for your buck I had one when I was in high school so I bought one for my daughter for when she turned 16. So I found a good car that just needed a few things and some paint...Replace one thing that leads to another and another and I ended up with a A1 show car. Bought my daughter a Mistubishi EVO MR instead, a way safer but still very cool car. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Loved your thread. It had everything: excitement waiting for the car, a dream come true, a great trip, no issues etc! Good job. Out of curiosity, i am not sure you mentioned it; why the 430? I am curious as sometimes people like to go for their childhood dreams (hence me going for the testarossa). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There were several reasons for the F430 for me. First off the looks of the car I really like this style. I wasn’t into Ferrari’s back in my younger days I was more into a 69 Z28 Camaro, muscle cars with Track heritage. I had a 69 Z28 when younger so I guess I did buy my childhood dream car, but I had to sell it due to requiring some fast cash to maintain my just started business . I watched Magnum PI not Miami Vice when I was a kid so I think I would be more likely to purchase the 308 style of Ferrari than the Testarossa. Second Maintenance the F430 doesn’t require a engine out service like the older Ferrari’s or belts replaced every 3 years like the F360. Also I want to drive my car and not worry too much about how many miles I am putting on like I would on a older possible future collector Ferrari. Of course I still hope that this well optioned F430 over time maintains its value for the miles but it will never be a collector car like a 16M. I like modern conveniences in cars and I think the F430 is the right balance between the feel of a raw race car and comfortable cruiser with modern conveniences. I also think the F430 is the best bang for your buck in the entry supercar market. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
