Well I guess add me to the drummers list. Not a true pro in the sense but I've played over 300 weddings. I own a few Ferraris but they are all in 24th. In fact, I am working on making the Bertone in 24th. Still a long way to go.

The set is a Tama Artstar in South American Cordia. I also have a giant set of Mahogany Superstars I bought new in '84.

Ever try fitting a 24" bass drum in a vette? Doesn't work to well.

Anyone know the full story on the coachwork for 3269 GT ? Attributed to Giugiaro, but the greenhouse and other lines look remarkably like my Scaglione-designed Giulietta Sprint Speciale. Scaglione left Bertone in 1959, however. Maybe he left some sketches behind ? Thanks.

Bill, what a great story. Thanks for sharing it- If you happen to come accross other vintage photos of your car I'm sure everyone would love to see them- How did you decide to change the color of the car...it looked great.

Thank you Bill, thats very kind of you to offer.
I did not start the 24th scale model but when I purchased it I did as much research as I could on the car to finish it. Its a hard shape to get just right. I spoke to Tillack years ago, maybe 2001, he told me that the owner (he must have been referring to you) would drive the car all the time, in the rain, to the grocery store, wherever! He also told me that he wondered what the original color was and scraped some paint off inside the door jamb to see what the first color looked like and it was dark blue. Is that when you decided to repaint it? And he beleived the Ox Blood interior was original.

If you have pictures and can post them that would be great. Stuff like that is always fun to see.

as for the color change I was working on the set of Charlie's angels and the asst. director saw me parking it (as far from the set as I could) did not like people to know I was driving a Ferrari as my everyday car ... but he saw me and came running over, and said WOW great car! after that he always had a place for me to park.
he was a real car guy, I told him that I was told it had been another color so one day he pulled back some rubber and went down to the other color BLUE and there is the answer to your Question.

There's way more than that; did you ever read his book, spans 100 years of racing automobiles? I'm thinking the collection was initially started by his father, though it's been quite some years since I've read the text.

I'll dig up the title and year published later (cleaning lady's in the office/library at present).

He was at the latest Retromobile show and in the interview I saw, he did relate that it was his father that got him started. He had several of his cars on display, but he didn't talk about any one car in particular.

Nick Mason's book, (first edition from 1988), was titled at the limit (yes, smallcase). In it, he and Mark Hales take twenty-one (21) of his cars, ranging from a 1901 Panhard B1 through the then new 1990 Porsche 962.

There are six (6) Ferraris tested:
    250 GTO 1962
    512S 1970
    365 GTB/4 1972 (Ecurie Francorchamps)
    312T3 1978
    512 BBLM 1979
    F40 1989

It's a very good read, giving glimpes in how the cars feel, versus just what they look like. Specifications and track test results for each car lend to comparisons.

    Back to you, Bill ;)

Mason has another book called "into the red" (1999)....perhaps the same book re-titled for different markets...or perhaps an updated edition with CD included.
