I am about to embark on a dream that I have had for some time. I am going to liquidate part of my muscle car collection and buy my first Ferrari. I am leaning towards a 2001-2002 360 f1 Spider Red/Tan because I just love the car and I have read that it is a blast to drive and really performs.

This car is at the upper end of what I can afford so I do not want to buy the wrong car. I am knowledgeable about cars and subscribe to Forza but really I have no clue what to look for or watch out for. I have contacted a couple of dealers locally and I am going to start meeting with them but I feel like a babe in the woods.

I am not in a hurry so I am planning on doing my homework but I am not sure where to start.

Any help/recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
    Stephen

Come to one of the South Florida events in the next month or two and meet some of the locals to discuss it. Several here have the 360 and can give you some good info. Also, Martin (Cavallinomotors) is a good dealer to contact about your search. Very honest and direct. See you around!

Probably good timing in regard to selling the muscle cars - the market is strong.

Sport Auto in Summerfield, NC, has a ton of 360s in stock. They're a Lambo dealer, but Steve Barney (owner) is a longtime Ferrari guy who formerly owned a dealership. I bought from them.

Also don't overlook Motorcars in Springfield, MO. Almost bought from them.

If you do go with a Ferrari dealer, you might get a certified pre-owned car, which could alleviate the biggest stress with a Ferrari - unexpected repairs. But one of the Ferrari techs who posts regularly here has called the 360 "the new 328" - meaning a more-reliable-than-usual Ferrari, so it doesn't seem to have as many Achilles' Heels as the 348/355 that came before it.

I live in CA, but have seen several warnings to the effect the FL doesn't have salvage titles -- so sometimes you're better off not buying a Florida car unless you really know the entire history.

Good luck. I know my Ferrari has been hands-down my favorite car ever. If some offered me $10K above what I paid for it, I don't think I could bring myself to sell it.

Great suggestion... I looked at the Florida area and I see an event on March 4th and the BOCA RATON CONCOURS ...any others that you were referring to?
