Congrats on the great find!!!!! She looks beautiful, just as she is. Hope you will end up posting some more pics as you go along, especially some pics of your projects.

Have fun, get her running good, and then go drive her like you stole her!!

Let us know how we can help with the rebuilding etc. There is a good amount to know when going through these and that is what fchat is for! Welcome

So, can you still post the year and serial number of the car?? I bet there are a few number trackers that would love to get that info?

Post some photos of the inside of the car as well. Document the whole thing from where it is now through where it ends up.

Congratulations Casey! I know you have been working this deal for a while, so happy to see that you were able to get the car! And i know you will do a great job bringing that baby back to life, especially considering how well my blue 355 tb runs after you did the major! Anyway, I am somewhat envious as I love the carb'd cars! Just found a 308 gt4 that I am interested in so perhaps I will join the carb club as well. And the firewall looks great!

True enough, good advice from carreaper, our evergreen bachelor of Fchat (thru no fault of his own I might add, unless it's all the machine guns and Stratocasters....:D :D)

As I mentioned earlier, that braid covered fuel line is the original 1970s material and LONG gone but hidden beneath the outer sheath....good job!!!

Get the new alcohol tolerant fuel line kits from Ricambi USA, and let Trutlands and FerrParts know you are looking for a clean set of "1975-77 cams".

This is gonna be a great car!

That new firewall skin looks great, the acorn nuts are a nice touch (if they clear everything!)

Congrats on getting that engine out of there without cracking the rear window.

Think how much fun it is going to be to get this car back on the road.

When you get some time, take some interior pictures.
I suspect even more "patina" is in there. :)

By the looks of those belts and tensioner bearings, it is probably a very good thing that she did not start up!! Great find. Congrats and Good Luck.:D

I was noticing as I removed the heads... the cylinders still had their hone marks from the factory!!!! AWSOME!!! I also noticed that where the car had been sitting for so long that all of the block to head coolant passages were gummed up...good thing I went ahead and stripped this hot rod and went through everything! I am also wishing to find someone on here that possibly has the lower cam sprockets they are willing to get rid of, I am afraid that the ones on this engine are almost past the point of being salvaged from rust...my mechanics salary can't afford new ones:-( Other than a few minor set backs, everything is going according to plan....I am still thinking in the back of my mind about what I am going to do with these seized up shocks!!! This will be next on my list... any "affordable" Ideas??? I would also like to thank you guys for all of the support and positive comments, keep em coming for I need all the support I can get!

Engine looks so clean mate! Did you clean it or has it been repainted? Looks great and looks like you're having fun. :):)

Why not overhaul the shocks yourself mate? Im sure you can buy the kit and make up the tool to get them apart yourself to overhaul them. :):)

You seem pretty handy on the tools. ;);)

looks great. Go to a "Fleet Pride" store, they sell Baldwin filters, oil, air and fuel that work great on carb 308's.

DO NOT USE FRAM FILTERS ON A 308.

Lots of failures(engine) related to these filters.

If all else fails on the shock front send me a PM. I have my old ones here I could ship to you. They are not brand new but they did work fine when I replaced them a few years ago!!

The block I just washed really good...as far as the valve covers and belt covers I had to blast and paint to get the look I was going for, same goes for the pullys. I have thought of rebuilding the shocks myself, I think I will call koni today and see what my options are as far as a rebuild kit.
