Recently, I purchased an 81 400ia. Did some basic service, brakes, and TRXs. Putting it through its paces on 1200 mile road trip. So far so good. Runs just above 80 degrees, has cold air and pulls hard at highway speed. I'll be looking someone on the forum up if I have trouble on my trip. Wish me luck!

Good luck with your new car. Mine is a 1980 400iA.

My first drive was 1800 miles from TX to CT. Ran like a dream.

Welcome to our merry band of misfits !

Like you, my first Ferrari was a 400 (carbed) and other than a few silly, inexpensive issues it's been good as gold for the past 18 months.

I'd love to do a 1200 mile trip but with the price of fuel in the UK it's too expensive to contemplate - by my rough calculations it would cost between £700-£800 depending on mpg of 10-12 (maybe it would hit 15 on run but it sounds soooo nice I doubt I'd be able to use the loud peddle sparingly!!!

Good luck on your trip - fingers crossed you return with a smile on your face and money left in the bank.

Made it to destination today without a bit of trouble. I'll post a few pics of the car tomorrow and on my return trip through the mountains of North Carolina.

May be my first and last but would love a blue carbed 308 GTB or 355 GTB. Anything else is out of my price bracket.

Your Imperial Gallons should certainly get 15 mpg, but those little liters you switched to won't get you around the block!
