So, Saturday I picked up my 599 GTB, and have to say that its blown me away. Im not a stranger to Italian car ownership, as still own a 56plate Maserati Gransport which iv had for 7 years now. Whilst I did test drive it, i was very cautious with it. Flat chat in 2nd gear was certainly an experience.
I looked at a few different 599's, and this was the best one by a long way, and hope it gives me a nice ownership experience, though not expecting it to be cheap. I purchased the car from Bell Sport and Classic, and they have been awesome with me over the past year that iv been chatting to them. This car is my dad's legacy after he took his own life just before Christmas 2021, he said to me on numerous occasions as a kid, when ever we saw a Ferrari on the road, he would tell me I could buy one when he passed. So i felt it was only right. I have not come across any negative comments yet, and even the neighbours love it, which is always a bonus. I do find the exhaust a little on the quiet side, but we shall see if i learn to love it as it is. The Maserati has 2x sports cats, no centre resonator and is pretty raucous. It is a fair bit louder than the 599.

Im based just outside Silverstone in the UK, so looking forward to meeting some fellow owners.

Hi there, what a strange story.
I am very sorry for your dad!
At least I hope you will enjoy your car.
Would you like to share any picture?
With regard to the exhaust note, drivers ate split especially on the expected use of the car. The 599 was designed for long trips too, so if you want to have a conversation a lower note might be appreciated.
But I guess that when you push hard sole nice music comes out!
    All the best,
    Nic

Cheers all, iv never been a fan of black cars, and was hoping the blue one i saw before xmas was going to be ‘the one’ but its condition was not reflected in the price. I went to see this one the on the anniversary of my dad’s passing, enroute to see him and was blown away by it. Matt at BS&C was awesome and i ended up buying it there and then. My girlfriend got me the plate as a xmas present. Dad always called me Mr, even into my 30’s and he was born in 53 with JLS being his initials.
i must admit I wasnt sure how people would view the car, but so far everyone seems to love it and thinks its tasteful, which is great. Its certainly got presence. I opened it up in 2nd gear all the way through the rev range the other day, and it was like being in the Enterprise. I just hope i keep my licence long enough to enjoy it! Lol

Congrats! Last May I picked up my very first Ferrari which also happens to be a Black 599 GTB. LOVE the car. I removed the secondary cats and replaced with straight pipes and it really opens up the sound. Under 4K rpm it is basically as quiet as ever, but above that it really sings. Fairly cheap mod and I love the results. Best of luck with the car. I am sure you are going to love it.

Thanks, that sounds like it maybe a good starting point. I was wondering about full one headers etc, but you REALLY want to want those for the cost etc.

Exactly. I like to start with the easiest, and lowest cost option first and go from there. You can always add headers, exhaust, etc. later if you want even more. Congrats again on the car and enjoy the process!

Sorry to hear about your father but I’m sure he would be proud of your selection. Most start with the mid engine exotic looking 8 cylinder variants but you went straight to the big boy class model. Love the 599!

Thanks. I have a mid engined track car im building, in the shape of a 330hp VX220, so though that area was covered. Iv also ticked the V8 box with the Maserati, and I try to go for cars that are a little out the ordinary and obscure. In all the car shows and places I have been to the past few years, iv seen 1x 599, and that was only September last year. Around my way they are very rare cars and I pride myself on being abit different.
Hoping to get out in it Sunday if the weather is good, and as the neighbours say its quieter than the Maserati, itl be rude not to take it on a morning blast.
