Hello, Just took the 360 Spider for a long ride. On the highway I had a bunch of various people buzzing around me, trying to tempt me into a race, following me. One guy in a cargo van would try to stay with me. Even after I accelerated to lose him I would slow down and he would come lumbering up at 85 mph to get next to me. It made me feel self-conscious and conspicuous to the police. I frankly enjoy driving more when nobody is around me. I'm sure everyone gets this. Does it irritate you?
Hell no..... next time either slow way down, turn the stereo up make the almighty rock sign with your fingers & shake your head like a head banger, or just look at them with your biggest smile and give them the thumbs up.
+1 Be happy and the people around you will be happy as well. Give them a big thumbs up with a big smile and you'll get smiles back. -F
Nope doesnt irritate me. I actually kind of like the attention. I never get goaded into a race or showing off at all. I just mind my own business and politely wave back. It was unexpected the first few times I took her out, but I have come to enjoy it as part of the Ferrari Experience. PDG
Well, it's all fine, dandy and fun, until they get too close, in your blind spots, don't allow you to move freely from lane to lane. At this point it becomes irritating and dangerous. Greg
Exactly, I have been honked at had near accidents when trying to turn, change lanes etc... all because some people pace just behind me and I have ZERO idea they are there on account of the blind spot. Needless to say they must think I am a bad driver but if something were to happen to my car rest assured I would **** someone up. I do not mind the rest though, it does make you you feel pretty cool let's face it and makes some people happy to come accross cars like these.
Seeing a Ferrari on the open road is so rare , that it excites car guys. I've had that happen numerous times, even in my 308. You just have to get used to it, acknowledge them with a smile and thumbs up and they usually leave you alone. Just be on the alert for when they try to follow you home, NEVER allow someone to follow you home. If you see someone doing it, just lose them in your neighborhood(or elsewhere), before going home. I've done that several times too. Usually harmless but I never take the chance.
+1 Used to bother me more. I'd rather they didn't, but appreciate their enthusiasm (I share it with them! ).
Had someone follow me home one night right up into my driveway. I got out with gun in hand. It was my neighbor in her new car and wanted to show it to me. She won't do it again....
I think some of these people do that just to annoy. Reason i say this is because i get the same pb with Van/pick up drivers and i drive a freaking 911. They will get glued to my rear bumper and block my rear view or when i pass them, they will chase me and again get glued to my bumper. I really dont think they are doing that to get a closer look..
My girlfriend has always commented that my 355 makes those around me seem to drive fast. Doesn't matter if its a cargo van or a riced-out Honda Civic. The prancing horsie seems to make everyone want to be fast!
Ask them to flash you their boobs. Get used to it... it's a Ferrari. If you wanted to remain incognito, you should have bought a Porsche.
One of these guys was swerving all over and pulled up close to my bumper at 70 mph in 50 mph zone and started honking and flashing his brights at me. Startled the Sh** out of me so I started coasting and he pulled around and gave me a thumbs up. I have always given the exotics a thumbs up, but I left them alone otherwise. When I said "Stalker" I meant people going overboard. The first time I took it out I let some kids sit in it so they could get pictures of each other. Don't know if I'll do that again just because they kind of flopped in and could have damaged the interior. Takes a little while to get used to getting in & out without scraping up the bolsters or kicking the door panels.
Had a couple of dudes in a Camaro brake check me in Virginia while I was driving the Ferrari Rig. Much to their surprise the grill of the Pete got bigger quickly in the rearview. I didn't even hit the horn. I did call the DPS - who responded in a manor I would like to call "wicked quick".
Happens a lot with all my cars. Women love the Bentley. Happens the most at gas stations and parking lots. People walk up to you and chat away. A kid (16-17) looked at my Spider a couple days ago and said "my dad is buying me a new Z06 for my birthday." I gots a 16 yr old, and I figure his dad must hate him, cuz he wants him dead real fast. My favorite was when I had my 348ts. A couple walked up to it as I was about to get in and drive away and the wife said to her husband something like "look Wally, it is a Ferrari or somtin" to which good old Wally said "dat ain't on Ferrari, dats one of them Fiero kit cars." Only a guy named Wally would say that so that is what I named him. I did not correct him, got in and left. Got a wave from a S63 this morning. Lambos want to race as do tuner cars and SL's. Soccer moms run you off "their" road in their urban tanks, literally. Most people just look and admire nicely. Boys 10-13 are best as they go crazy around a Ferrari, like seeing up a girl's skirt for the first time and trying to look cool for their friends like it ain't no big deal.
