I just got back from my first track day experience… giggity giggity. This was an open drive meaning there were no instructors and drivers were turned loose on the track 30 sec or so behind the previous car. The problem was the track had orange cones as gates in strange places against the lines of the track so drivers had to slow down before hitting corners and they also had them staggered on the straight so you had to zigzag between the gates thus keeping speed down, I never saw speeds above 85mph. Don’t get me wrong it was very fun and I had a great time, even the wife had fun watching from the stands and taking pictures. Overall it was great and I now have more confidence knowing the limitations of my 355. Plus it was fantastic seeing all the cars that showed up. Then the gremlin raised its ugly head and my night was cut short by a couple laps. The speedometer sensor started to go bad and disabling my F1 clutch sporadically with it, then after a few seconds it would start working again. This was enough to force me to call it a night and head the 75 miles back home while she was still drivable. This has accrued a couple times in everyday driving as well, so I guess it’s time to replace the damn thing. I believe that's my neighbor in the orange challenger in front if you. He's been trying to get me out to wide open Wednesday for a while but my work schedule won't allow it.
It was a lot of fun to get the Ferrari out and let it do what it was built for. I recommend all owners do it if they get the chance. It made my 355 look like toy and although I'm sure the challenger is fast there is no way it handles like a 355.
Very cool Erick! The photo of you rounding that corner is worth the price of admission. One of these days I hope to do the same.
If it does belong to my neighbor, he has it supercharged with about 570 HP. But it probably handles like a tank. He restores classic Mopars so he's used to crappy handling.
Funny, that's what I sold to buy my F355. And you're right, they do handle like a tank, worse if you want to make a turn. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Awesome, Erick! The car looks great out there - hopefully the speedo issue didn't put too much of a damper on things.
Extreme, Join the PCA Utal Region as they have a DE Program, It's the best place to start learning the limits of your ability and the 355F1! see the URL Below: Track - A WebsiteBuilder Website PS. If the F1 gives some issues also check the clutch position sensor, just replace it depending on mileage however? If your speedo is bouncing around or cutting off at times then it's the speedo sensor.
