So yes you read it right....I walk in the door from renting some movie's and video game's and picking up dinner, I set my food in the kitched and sit down on the couch and no longer then 2 minute's after sitting down the tv falls RIGHT OFF THE WALL landing on the face(glass) taking the WII down with it, needless to say the glass is all cracked as well as the WII.

I'm not too concerned with the WII as I got it for a HELL of a deal($100) and bought my mom one which she still has in the box which I know I can just take back from her.

So is this t.v trash or should I look into having it repaired?

    PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!

    Thanks
    James Simpson

p.s it's been on the wall for about 2 year's now, I bought one of the mounting unit's and installed it myself. Also it's a 42 Plasma LG...the power light come's on but nothing come's on the screen, you can see where it hardest and spider webbed out frome there.

I kind of had a similar experience.

Except I caused it to fall off a wall.

It was a BRAND NEW 40inch Sony and my son pissed me off SO BAD. I took off my shoe and flung it right at him. I missed. Hit the TV and it fell.

    LUCKILY, still had the warranty.

That's a heck of a start for a replacement TV, let alone an evening. Make sure there's no shards or dust underfoot.

Document everything. Insurance may cover it, or tax writeoff of some description in the GWN.

As to the mount; Did it fail by breaking/bending or simply separate entirely from the wall?

I suppose the new TV may warrant a safety net by way of a wire cable/strap, just in case it also decides to jump.

I checked there's not glass or anything shard's/dust etc.,, i'll take some pic's and show you guy's tommorow... I don't have home insurance:( which for the first time ever I was going to get about a month ago as part of my auto insurance but ended up on dealer plate's again...also I live in apartment building...in fact i'm going to call my guy tommorow!

Question, I do have the recipt's for my tv and dvd player's but my dad lost the one for my PS3 christmas gift and the WII I got my girfriend didn't come with one, not so concerned about the WII as I got my mom one so i'll just take that one back....she hasn't even taken it out of the box, sorry going off topic....

What happen's if you don't have a receipt? or it's simply been misplaced after year's of ownership? for example, my Rolex? It was $7800 brand new and still is although I only paid $4000, well actually I lent someone money and pretty much knew I would never get it back so I took his watch. It's registered to me with Rolex.

    Cheers!

Yeah I agree except it's not $50, the mount alone cost me $150 at the time and it's been fine for two year's until today, it's through drywall into the concrete behind it! I think our new cat was dic king around maybe climbing up the cord's or something but she weigh's all of two pound's....who the hell know's...just plain suck's....

    Will take some pic's tommorow...

sorry forgot to answer your question! it completely seperated from the wall, it was in the wall through drywall into the concrete anchored with huge metal anchor's and bolt's...No I have a big beautiful t.v I can turn into a coffe table?

Or maybe i'll make one of those video's with me coming out and smashing the t.v because my girlfriend is watching crap again?

That sucks! I really can't comment on fixing it vs buying a new one, but if you do get a new one maybe consider an LCD or LED, they weigh a hell of a lot less than a plasma!

Got the new model of my now broken one yesterday, a few hour's watching that little tv from the bedroom was enough to realize there's no way I could stick it out.

I wish I could get a L.E.D but there still BIG BUCK'S up here right now and the LCD I wanted was out of stock at two store's, and APPARENTLEY Plasma's are better for video game's then LCD'S, and LCD'S are better for watching HD sport's which I don't.

    Cheers!

Also the guy at the sony store asked if I bought my mount from Home Depot, I said yes why? he said you're the tenth person I've heard of buying from there and it falling out of the wall! It's been up for two year's with no problem's whatsoever until it fell out of the damn wall!

It's NOT the mount that is the issue, but the method used to fasten the mount to the wall. If you are securing into concrete did you use these:

I used metal anchor's specifically designed for concrete, it's almost like they just 'fell apart'

it will cost more to fix versus replace. Unfortunate truth.
I guess that's 1 plus of having someone install it for you, insurance.
Good news is, TV's are as cheap as they've ever been (value wise)
