After fixing some major oil leaks (cooler pipes and cam drives) I've had a few oil-free weeks and good drives. Here's my '77 UK #13500 after a wash and polish from what I think is the best angle of the GT4 - I think it makes it look short a bit like a stratos.

Enjoy fellow and potential GT4 owners :)

Nice Bertone design, eventhough I think it'll be more appreciated in a couple of years. It's very atypical for a Ferrari, and that's what I like about it!! Can anyone tell me what's the difference between a Dino and a Ferrari 308 GT4? Does the Dino have the 246 engine?

I bought a GT4 because it was a Bertone design - I also like the Lambo Urraco and Stratos and others.

All GT4's are really called "Dino 308 GT4"s so they are in fact Dinos. Early GT4's were badged with a Dino nose badge, later ones had a normal Ferrari emblem. Dino 246's were the earlier curvy Pinifarini design that everyone thinks of when you say Dino. Plenty of threads on f-chat about the Dino badging of the GT4.

I like (when asked) to say I have a Ferrari Dino. Most non F people assume it's a 246 and simply don't remember the GT4. If you say 308, people assume the "Magnum" car.

Lee, Really nice looking car - and not far from mine at least in Ferrari family numbering. Mine is 13980 but S reg.

Also love the rear end of these cars - kind of muscular in a 70's way. Pantera...Urracco...?

    Cheers

Well sometimes but the good thing is that I sold it to a good friend of mine that I work with as well so I get to see it often enough.I actually drove it the other day and was amazed at how heavy the clutch was compared to the 328.Still a beautiful car though...

    Lee,

glad you are back on the road! Those are vents, the US cars had them removed to aid the AC, I assume that you have a perforated section of headliner there on the inside? I also love the Euro cars but I think the later series two bumpers are not that bad looking and tell me if you think these lines aren't clean also. I also like the rear of the US version with its lingerie look covering the naughty bits! I love the GT4! Last pic is of the best part!

They are air vents. There was a technical bulletin to block then up from the inside.I did this to help stop any exhaust fumes from entering the cabin but from the outside you could't tell that it had been done.

Thanks all. Hmm, interesting, I've always had a fume issue - I think it was probably mostly down to the oil leaks onto the header! but they're all gone now. It's certainly a lot less smelly now. How do you get to the vents from the back ? do you have to pull the headlining ?

Hi Mark, where abouts are you then ? ps, my car was originally silver too - hence the red interior. Was changed about 10 years ago when it had a full resto.

    samba lee : congratulations !
the first 2 pictures on your thread are absolutely beautiful. You have found the best angle to reveal the pure beauty of this car. First I did not appreciate it very much. But now, I think it is a rare beauty. I agree with You guys. Very 70s muscle car like a pantera , but with 4 seats ! What about mounting large rear tyres and thiner at front. Maybe with a little offset to. I would sugest 245 rear and something like 195 front. I think with the original 16" rims it could be possible. On my mondial I have put 245 rear and 205 front. I like thee 16" rims. It gives also the final 70" muscle touch...
    I would love to try a gt4 !

the rear looks like a Jalpa, doesn't it? Also Bertone styled obviously... Talking about Bertone: anyone seen the new Bertone yet? it's the Mantide, designed by Jason Castriota who did the custom built Ferrari P4/5 and some Maseratis and such. How will cars look like in thirty years???

Thanks, this photo gave me the angle that I tried to shoot. It's a press photo I saw on ebay - the auction winner kindly gave me a scan of it.

Some great photos here of the early countach too:

You can really see the similarity in the detail.

Also note the registration of the press photo car and mine - pretty close, but the early history of my car is gone - other than it had been in Hong Kong and the USA !

Hi Lee, Mine is in Somerset but I got it from Terry Keys at Silverstone. Came with a tan velour interior that just had to go. It was Gold when first sold then changed to deep blue and then the silver. I've got photo records of the change to blue but other than that not much else except it lived in the south of France for a while in the 80's - still get sand out of the air vents occasionally! Kind of like the silver tho' - sort of brings it up to date a bit although I would love to have it in the original gold.

Who did the resto work on yours? Was this by PO or yourself? Has it held up ok? I'm thinking of maybe sinking a bit of cash into it this winter to get the interior and body up to scratch. here we go......

    Cheers

Nice car David, Is it only for tracking?

Took mine on a PCGB day at Castle Combe couple of weeks ago. I think the GT4 should make a great track car with a bit of tweaking - it feels much more nimble than say the 328. Mine suffers also from driver inability but still fun.

    Cheers

Nice, I'd be too scared to race mine in case I broke it ;) You know it's high time we held an International GT4 meet (although it would perhaps be more of a Euro meet) - Holland is the obvious place - somewhere near Rotterdam - any thoughts?
