The sound of the car under acceleration is pure music...the downshifts too. Really looking forward to this car.. M, I bet you were still hearing the sounds in yr heard when you were back home that night! Cheers ..
M, Congratulations on finally taking delivery of your GTO! It's been a long time coming! Great to hear that you're happy with the car and after seeing the various pictures and videos it looks like you're really enjoying it too. Thanks for sharing your first impressions with us, looking forward to hearing more from you soon Regards, Aaron.
Thanks Aaron. All I can tell you is that this car keeps getting better and better. For the time being ... it's my daily driver
M, I was surprised how little attention the car draws "noise wise" in daily use. I saw you passing by the other day in normal traffic and what a difference with the screaming beasts I've seen on Spa last week. The looks of it, that's another matter . The looks are so agressive. It breaths top of the foodchain. Must be a hell of a daily driver! Have a lot of fun and safe miles Best jurgen
Indeed. Below 3,000 rpm she sounds like a "puppy dog". Once you pass the 3,000 rpm barrier, the gates of hell open. Next time better luck. I did "blip" the throttle last time I drove by your house. Almost gave an old lady a heart attack She gave me a real, nasty look. Oooh well
M...what do you think of the GTO's new traction control? How did it "feel" compared to the 599's system (which is already impressive)? Also, did you consider installing another valve switch to "fix" the <3Krpm "puppy dog" sound? I have already heard a couple of GTOs on the road. With the valves closed it certainly sounds very civilized...but once they open I recently saw a GTO with Spanish plates doing a small acceleration and then a downshift next to me whilst I was on a sidewalk. My heart almost stopped because it sounded (and looked) so good!!
The traction control is better than the HGTE. It's not as restrictive as the system of the HGTE. It's there to help you when needed and if you get too carried away, you clearly feel the system taking over but it's not as much as a "nanny" as the system looking after the HGTE. There is a much clearer difference driving in the wet. GTO system is way better in wet conditions than the HGTE system. In the end it is a much better package and I think Ferrari was able to set the parameters different (with a better overall outcome) on this system because of the fact that the GTO simply has a much better chassis than the HGTE does. With regards to the valve switch: I had requested my dealer to put it on but because of the accelerated delivery they had no time to do so. So, I had to take it without the little valve and quite frankly speaking ... I don't miss it on the GTO. The transition from "civilised" to "uncivilised" is so nice, so impressive to hear that I really don't miss it. So, for the time being the HGTE will be the only one with the valve "open-close" switch
Ca ne m'étonne pas! Vous allez faire des rassemblements avec? Mon père et moi allons au Mans Classic avec notre 308 Polyester
It's not an option offered by Ferrari. It's just a simple switch the dealer can install inside the cabin allowing you to keep the valves in the exhaust open at all times. Very simple to install.
That's wonderful. The usability of Modern Ferrari's is very impressive especially in such a high/ultra performance one.
If I had both an HGTE and a GTO, I think the HGTE would begin to collect a lot of dust. Beautiful GTO!
