The scary thing is that they are being "placed" there by an organized group.

What that group does should be illegal. How can a group or someone place a homeless person into a foreclosed home?

It is illegal. The problem is that only the owner of the property (the bank) can be the one to file the complaint, they're a little in the weeds these days and aren't staying on top of this.

That's a terrible problem. May I make a suggestion? According to the article the police can't enter the home without a search warrant. Well, to get a search warrant they need probable cause that a crime is being committed there now and that evidence of the crime is located inside. One way YOU can obtain probable cause is to start video taping the front of the residence and hopefully capture people going in and out. If you can do that, I would argue that meets the probable cause standard. The only problem you would have after that is determining if the police have the resources to devote the time to writing out the warrant, going before a judge, and executing it. You can call them in advance, propose the idea, and see if they are interesting before you start investing your time in this.

    Good luck.

The name squatters makes me think of creepy people roaming around, which is exactly what most of them are. haha. Sorry to hear that this happened in your neighborhood (more importantly right in front of your house!).

The next thing you know some government agency will demand that you let the squatters borrow your Ferrari or Lambo because they don't have proper transportation. What's next?

After the police coming out many times and NBC6 reporting the story, squatters came back for a few minutes today.

According to EWM (listing agent for bank of america), no one should be in the home!

SO let me get this right. I can just break into a home that is forclosed and live there. I can set up power and cable and live there for free and not a single person can do a thing about it?

    THATS INSANE!

Article is WRONG -- police can enter and make an arrest if they witness a crime being committed, trespass is a crime. If they wanted a warrant, same thing, Trespass is a crime - but in that case you would probably need a complaintant.

True. But the police would have to be there and witness the person going in and out. They don't have the time to sit around and do that. Sure they could take a neighbor's word for it but if there is recent video it makes much stronger evidence for probable cause. Entering a private residence is not something law enforcment takes lightly - especially without a warrant. There are ways around this, and the way I suggested isn't the only way to go about it. I was just trying to think of the most practical solution for all involved.
