First let me say thanks to all for sharing your knowledge on fchat. I am getting ready to join the world of Ferrari owners. In talnkg to some local clubs and reading all I can find I have settled on a 430 coupe. The list would be - red/tan, F1, shields, daytona seats, mileage 5-12 (what's to much ?) - this is the must have list other options are welcome.

Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. So far I know I would want a PPI, records, and history. What about the manifold cracks? Is there an easy way to determine this ? Others concerns ?

What is too many miles? Depends on your budget and your preferences. Not sure there are any early warning signs for manifolds....other than quizzing the owner to see if they've been replaced.

Not any other showstoppers, just do your homework and negotiate like its a buyers market.

    The budget is 120 - 130

In redding the manifold thread some say Ferrari will warrant them even longer than3 years?

    For 15k mile cars
    '05 85%
    '06 15%

    You're right, very little changed

that far and away with your budget and preferences you get an '05, with a slim chance at an '06.

I'm seeing many with asking prices 130 - 140 or so, hopefully the old cash talks theory plays out. Looks like buyers market ..

Don't forget to get all the keys, books and tools. Lease companies sometimes hold onto some/all of these and they can get lost when the car is returned. While they seem minor now, you'll pay dearly later on for these that should be part of every transaction.

If you buy an F1 transmission, during the PPI insist they tell you the % remaining of the clutch. When the Tech connects his diagnostic equipment to the car, it is an easy readout from the ODB download of codes and data.

Look in the ad section here and you'll find some deals that cut out the middle man:
