Today I had a spin a car that quite frankly leaves me in no doubt what new car I would buy with R1.1 million(south african rand).....its a car that is hard to put into words, its an emotional experience.

It has a name that is so prestigous, a name steeped in motor sport and most of all it has a soul, where a German car is so clinical, so perfect, this car is so warm and inviting, the smell of the hand stiched hide, the beautifully pleasted head liner, the lashing of carbon fiber and those elegent gauges.

Admire this car and its like admiring a supermodel, there is beauty everywhere, the car just gives you that feeling of awe, that feeling of being in the presence of something very special, the whole stance is both agressive and so so gorgeous.

The seats hold one like one giant hand and everywhere one sees glorious details, no cheap plastic here, no lots and lots of lovely leather.

This hand built V8 errupts with a roar and wow does she pull, accompanied by a truly spintingling, goose bump inducing roar that turn into a scream as the revs build. Acceleration is awesome

Fantastic body control means corners are taken flat, the big tyres biting into the tarmac, the amazing sound richocheting of the buildings.

This car is a car that connects with you, its the type of car only the Italians could build, its a car that plays on the emotions a car that makes you appreciate that cars arent merely from going from A to B. Most of all its a car you learn to love very quickly....

This car is a Maserati Gransport....in dark blue....

Nice post. A used Grand SPort is a great buy, even better when it depreciates further down the road.

The secret is out on these cars, and there are a flood of ex-M3 and 911 drivers that want someting exotic to step into. Haven't seen any real depreciation on these babies over the last 12 months.

    Brother Lung,
There's one right now sitting in the showroom at NC in KL, price is 'negotiable'...My wife and I was offered a spin in a demo-car (which is to be sold even cheaper..) which I kindly declined...because it might change my plans to go back into Fcar-dom ...again!!! But rear seats are commodious (for my kids, at least ) and all in all a stupendous car.

    Great post 360CS.

What truly amazed me thought at home much better the GS is to the standard 4200 GT, particularly in the handling front, sit much better on the road, suspension gives a much more racey feel which is great and the optional pleated headliner fitted to the car I went in, looked superb, real work of art....
    Will post some pics soon.

Very nice review of the car.

What's with the stripes on the front chin spoiler, yet nowhere else? I would either do the whole car with the stripes, or none at all. It looks unfinished like that.

Stripes are have been put on all GS in South Africa as symbol, a blind guy managed to drive one to 268 km/h and the stripes are in recognition of that fact, the stripes are also put on the lower rear valance....looks great when you see it in the metal.....

If you lower the suspension and adapt the front geometry in any standard Coupé, you get the same handling. I tested a GS some monthes ago, and the only non-esthetic difference was the better gearbox. So I sold my Coupé CC and I purchased a second-hand Coupé GT (with a stick).

The "problem" with GS vs. CC/GT is the GS is tuned for sporty driving and CC/GT are tuned for old people, but all are basicaly and mechanicaly the same cars. So if you want a sporty Maserati go for a new GS or tune an used CC/GT and save some money !

RTGT has a very nice blue one on the floor. The seats I believe are Grey, they look pink in the pics

    http://www.rtgt.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=ViewInventory.Details&CarID=6ABCDF44-DCC0-3C21-7B63-0AF03A8D9ECB&

and they also have a red (Burgundy/maroon) GS spyder on the floor as well.

Great guys, I purchased an 06 GS Spyder for my wife from them as well. It's an awesome car! She has a lot of fun with it.

Congrats, nice! Silver looks really cool. I would go black for the coupe, silver for the spyder.

There is nothing like buying a new car. I have had my 06 GS for six months now and not a problem. It is like a love affair.... I find myself looking at it in the garage at night. My wife comes in the garage and asks me what I am doing... Funny, havent felt this good about owning a car since I was in high school and had my first 280Z.

    I highly recommend it!
