Last summer I had the 512 out for a cruise on a beautiful afternoon. My wife and I pulled into a nursery to look at some flowers for the house when an Asian lady and her 7 year old son parked next to us. It was obvious from the son's eyes popping out of his head that he was mezmerized by the Fcar. His mom and him strolled over and in very broken English said "Is that a Ferrari?". With that I said 'why yes it is' and swung the door open and said 'jump in!'. The kids smile as he sat behind the wheel almost brought tears to my eyes. It truly is a fine day when you can bring joy to someone elses life with such little effort. Jelousy, sorry, I just won't acknowledge it.

I remember as a kid coming out of a shopping mall with my dad (who is from england) where we happened to see what I know today as an austin healey 3000. My dad was drawn to this car like flies to sheet so we approached the owner and talked to him. I was just a little kid, probably less than 8 years old at the time. The guy offered me a ride so my dad sent me off with this guy alone (which today I dont think I would do with my kids - depends on the situation I guess) and he took me for a ride around the block. Ill never forget it, it didnt make me a diehard british car lover but I recall the sound and excitement that man introduced me to. He returned me to my dad and we parted ways. I want to do the same for other kids, im working on one of my nephews who shows promise!

......................................................................................What I do not understand is your nieghbor is a mechanic with his own shop,I am sure he could have a Ferrari if he wants one,it seems his wife wants one, it seems like in the real world people either love you or hate you because of what you drive its so stupid, and the husband you never saw him ? Maybe he is a lousy mechanic, I think people like that are just LAZY, Why be mad at someone for enjoying thier life,Some people spend all thier money on beer, or clubs so whats wrong with someone saving up and driving a Ferrari or having 2 or more for that matter, or financing a car that they want,Most people buy a car then later sell it and buy another,Like a guy at my job,he buys a new car and a year later he trades it in and buys something else,I could not care less what he does, then I drive up in my GT4 and the guy is yelling and cursing me out, I tell him do not ever raise your voice to me ! Do I yell at you every time you trade your cars in and lose tons of money , No I don`t care what other people do. But this is how most people are, I say let them be pissed off, I drive what ever I want, or should I say can afford, and if I can afford a Ferrari beleave me , anybody can .

That's a far too modest description -- you are a "restoration and customization specialist" in addition to being a "mechanic".

One of my bigger regrets was not letting a young guy sit in my Gallardo because i was worried about the leather. I got older and wiser and then actually took a kid for a ride in the Gallardo and my Spyker at his parents request as he was passing from cancer. Now anyone can sit in my cars. I never drove my cars to work but my 458 changed that. Life is too short Ferrari is too fun. Leather can be replaced. Be respectful to the neighbors but tough s##t the car is meant to be seen and enjoyed. Have at it.

wrong - they have to make testdrive :)

also wrong, as I see it here in the boxer/TR/M section a lot of mechanics have a ferrari - because they can work themself on the car without paying other mechanics money for the labor :), and those are also helping here others with problems because of the own experiences they did on their own cars

but this also would be the same as I would say:
normal ferrari drivers never work on their cars - and even this is not correct

Okay, let me rephrase: Normal Auto Mechanics to not own or drive Ferrari's. Some Ferrari mechanics do own and drive. No Ford or Chevy Mechanics, Lol

I feel bad for the husband. Would be misery to be married with such short-minded person. But considering this thread is 10+ years old, I wouldn't be surprised they are divorced by now.

Yep, the harder I work the luckier I get, as they say.
The same people spend thousands on crap, and never use delayed gratification.
Or, "your sooooo lucky" comes to mind. So lucky I get to work 12 hrs a day for 40 years!

She probably buys brand new cars every 3 or 4 years and is frivolous. Owning a used Ferrari is not as unaffordable as people think. My cousin always talks my ear off about how he wants to buy a vintage cadillac and 20 years later it still isn't in his garage. I finally caved and told him "If you really wanted it bad enough, it would be in there." Guy buys a new car every two years, is constantly in debt and I cannot imagine what his car payment is. (upside down to high heaven) If he had just gone out and bought a nice used honda for 6-10 grand back then He'd probably be able to afford three of them by now. Change is difficult, even when it is for the better.
