Last night I wanted to take the car out for a drive before vacation starts Friday and my wife needed something dropped over at her parents. So I asked the three year old if he want to go and he of course said YES!!!

As I'm buckling him into the car he asked me where we were going. I told him "We're going to drop these off at Grandma's, then go drive fast!"...he got a big smile on his face and said "You mean we're going to have fun!".

He had his hand out the window and was giggling the whole ride (well, right up until he fell asleep!).

My 8 year old told me last night that it's impossible to bite your elbow.

    He's right.

Great story :) And, at 3 years old, your kid is clearly already very perceptive and a budding exotics fan!

    Drive happy :)

Whenever I work on the car, he finds a bucket in the garage and stands on it so he can "help" and see what's going on. He is very interested in the 308. He asked me last night if we could wash it when we got home!

ha ha ha... I need to hurry up and have some kids!!

(By the way, before moving to NYC (and CA for a bit before that), I spent a good 15 years in Austin. I aways miss it. Would love to bring my 308 back there sometime...)

    Cheers,
    J.

    Great Stories.
When I first got my 328... my 4 year old was more excited than I was. I'll never forget picking him up from Day Care shortly after we had it in the garage. I think he told everyone in the entire day care 60+, "Yep, we now have a Ferrari added to our garage". There is not a day that passes when he walks past it in the garage he "pats it" and says "nice Ferrari" as we walk inside the house. I only have 11-12 more years before I should be worried....

A couple of years ago I dated a girl who had a 7 year old daughter. The first time she sat in my 308, she looked around the inside for a moment and said, "There are horses everywhere"

I always thought that was cute.

My daughter has been riding in the Mondial for 10 years, beginning as a 3 year old in carseats in back touring around Europe. She is the only Schumacher fan in a sea of teenage NASCAR boys. She loved it in first grade when I would come to pick her up at school in the car, as her friends said - 'wow-FOUR tailpipes'.
It's a part of the family.

    Cute!

When my son was 4 I didn't have a Ferrari, but I did (and still do) have a Fiat Spider. One hot summer day, I buckled him and he looked at me and said, "turn on the air."

I said, "Michael, this car doesn't have 'air"

He looked at me like I was from Mars and said, "What do you mean?"

He couldn't fathom, at age 4, that ANY car would not have air conditioning.

Both my kids love going for a ride.
My 3.5 year old son has that great little kid accent, and says "Fuh-wah-wee" with big emphasis on the "wee" part.
    Love it!

    You learn something new everyday!!!!

    I have a good one...not a Ferrari, but my Porsche 930...

I have a 3 y/o cousin that likes to ride in my Turbo. With the radio off, you can really hear the turbo spool up, and of course that turbo sensation follows. (Which we both love!!!!)

He has nicknamed the car "WHOOOOSSSHHHH" (Imitating the sound the car makes as it spools up. Of course it sounds cute as hell & he is spitting everywhere when he says it!!!)

Everytime he sees the car he says in that adorable 3 y/o voice "I want to ride in Whoosh"!!!! When the turbo spools up, he starts saying "Whoosh!!! Whoosh!!!" and promptly yells "WHEEEEEEEEE!!!!!" & starts laughing.

He is probably the only 3 y/o that understands that you have to drive slow before going home so the turbo can cool down. We usually spend that time singing the "take me ridin' in the car-car" song from that Nissan 350Z commercial.

    God I love that kid.

The grandson is now 2 1/2. In the last year or so, as he began forming words, he learned "Farri". But while he shouts and yells any other word, Farri is always spoken in a faint whisper, like something of great reverence or importance. Almost errie the way he whispers it. Fffffarri. Other day he was over, and with two 308's in the garage he just has so much respect and is so careful. He can point at the emblems now and say "horsey". And now he comes in the garage and say's "Gampa, whatcha doin?"

But the killer was a few days ago, this lil 5 year old neighbor kid was over. He came in the garage, and standing between the two cars, both in various stages of repair, both on jack stands, he ran his hand along the fender and looked back and forth at them, then looked at me and said "your really good". I looked at him and said what do you mean, and he answerd, "you make these, you really good". I think in his little 5 year old mind he imagined I was building them.

right now i've got the mondi a foot and half in the air while i'm replacing the belts and decided i'd change the oil. i really tried not to spill it this time eithier. ofcourse the oil comes gushing out faster than the pan can drain it in and promptly puddles the garage floor. sand and kitty litter to the hazmat site.

a little later my 3yr old comes out to the garage and looks at the mess and says "is that poo poo?" "oh, nooo it's peeeee" then in a mater of fact voice he says "you're going to have to clean that up" then runs in the house to tell mom the car pee'd on the floor. and now every day he makes it a point to tell me "daddys' red race car pee'd on the floor"

I was rolling through a parking lot at a book/record store and passed a lady with her 4 year old(?) daughter in tow. The daughter looked up, pointed her finger in my direction and said, "Ferrari!". Girls are SO much smarter than boys...

First time my younger boy got a ride with the family in the GT4 ( in strapped seat , behind me) was 4 months old: he had no comments .I still think I did not do something very appreciable ( at that time ) to him. Now , 13 years later, he is always with me when taking free laps at track.

The above pictures reminds me when my middle daughter was about 3 and decided to help me wash my car. I was washing down the back, while she got her bucket out of the sandbox, filled it half way up with sand, added water and soap, and proceeded to remove the paint from the nose of the car.

At 29, she still "threatens" to help me wash the car.

My son learned "Rarri" at age 2 and is working on the other marques. I took him to a local high-end shop a few weeks ago and, at age 3, he amazed me and the staff by walking up to the nose of a Ferrari, a Lotus and a Lamborghini and naming them as he pointed at their badges. I promised him a ride last weekend, and later in the day it started to rain. He promptly informed me that "the Rarri doesn't go out in the rain". I think he is coming along nicely!

Now I start indoctrinating his little sister........
