Thank you. I like many cars - maybe even too many- but the 911 is the only one that I never get tired of driving. Ciao
I owned in the past - ten years ago and more - three Carrera 3.2 G50: coupè, targa and cabriolet. But now I found this excellent conditions Carrera 3.2 M.Y. '86 with 915 gearbox and I went for it. After driving a bit the car, I learned that the 915 gearbox is not bad at all, if it has not too many miles, and my car hasn't: my one feels to be still in good conditions so it works very well indeed. Yes, the G50 has a better gears position definition, but it's the only minus I feel for this 915 gearbox, who also has some plus that I never imagined could exhist, due to my ignorance. The plus over the G50 are several and the first is there isn't anymore the upsetting gearbox rattle of the G50. Then there is one of the two big plus: the 915 gearbox is much lighter and so the car handles and performs better. I would say there are at least 30 kg less (almost 70 lbs), including the missing of the hydraulic clutch actuators and the lighter flywheel. The latter is the best unexpected plus the M.Y. 1984-1986 have over the 87-89 models: a 1 kg lighter (2.2 lbs) flywheel, 4.4 kg versus 5.4 kg. This gives the engine a better and very pleasant throttle response. And don't forget that the Euro '84-'86 models have the same power of the '87-'89 ones: 231 hp. Sometimes you simply don't know enough: I was thinking to have purchased a duck, but now I'm thinking to have got a swan. Ciao
