I might also mention, for those of you who are interested in this beautiful car, that there is an 8-page article, complete with foldout poster and numerous color pictures, featuring the 206 Competizione, in the March 1993 issue of Sports Car International magazine, and this issue is still listed as being available for sale through the publisher, for $8.00 including shipping. There is also in article in "Road & Track Presents Show Cars" from 1984.
In the book 'Ferrari Design of a Legend' which has a few images and a nice side profile rendering of the 206 S, it was written: "Presented at the 1967 Frankfurt Motor Show decked out in bright yellow, the prototype soon became known to enthusiasts as the "yellow Dino." Leaving aside the question of the actual results achieved in terms of production models, there is no doubt that the Dino was the most interesting of all the research prototypes and it bears full witness to the quality that had been achieved by Pininfarina's designers." High praise. The studio shots show the car with dark wings, silver window frame, and dark headlight backs. It's interesting how much the 360 takes from this car, particularly the ovoid shaped headlight covers and rear fender scoop with the integrated door handle. -F
amazing news, one of my all-time favourites. congrats first think that came to my mind is that photo with the model shown before, i'll post it anyway because i've got it in better quality. btw she's not fully nude, you can see a strip of a bra on her shoulder Image Unavailable, Please Login
Now, there's a Dino that won't have its badges replaced by Ferrari emblems! Congratulations on successfully negotiating this treasure into your garage. It says quite a bit about the degree of confidence they have in you.
Congratulations Jim! Any idea to carry this Dino to Villa D'Este 2008?! I'm planning to return there in april! Alan
In the late Jonathan Thompson's article on the Dino Competizione, written in 1984, he makes the ridiculous statement that the car was featured in the 1971 film "A Clockwork Orange". I can't imagine how he let that error slip by.
Congratulations, Jim. Gorgeous car indeed! By the way, have you secured a special NY numberplates for it?
Hi Alan I hope so. Jesse Working on it. Oscar Remember she is built on a 206S chassis. She's really a Baby P3/412P. She's very light and her longitudally positioned engine revs to 9K. She feels very 1967 race car but with her Carbs is very tractable. Thanks to Everyone!
Jim, A belated congratulations; had missed your official announcement. Does this now set a precedent for other pf cars? Jeff Kennedy
Very very nice! Congratulations, indeed. Yep, a '206S' into a street car, you have done it again, loose on the streets! Easier plug access with the motor oriented properly, I'd wager... A fitting addition to the 3/4 and 412!! "Mahatma BigTex", is that a promotion, Dr. Who??? Maybe get me into some Hare Krishna parties or something.....sorry I missed the thread 'till now.... The GOOD thing, being the first Owner, is that your Warranty Book only started when you left the showroom, like my #22641.....ROTFLMAO! Make sure to pull in and get it stamped once in awhile, you'll be golden....
Hello Jim, I was wondering when you decided you wanted this car? Only recently or alot earlier? Did you see it at pebble 2001? Cheers Sebas
Sebas I've Loved this car for years. It took a while for the stars to align. Don Pininfarina is documenting the entire cleaning/pre delivery service and will be producing a manual/Book. The car has a tool kit/KO Hammer/Jack/spare wheel and tire. We found an original metal scribing tool walled up in the car and have retrieved it. It's pretty cool. Albert Hope you're well! Possible FOS definitely Historic Targa. Best
