Carbon is officially on his way south. After spending some time with Bruce and Andrea and the family this past weekend, he paid Josie and I a visit and stayed the night last night. It was great to see him one last time before he begins his new life. We had the pleasure of meeting Carbon last August at the Wellington Chateau party (he was still DES at the time) and we've been great friends ever since. We've all spent at least two weekends a month at the Wellington's since that party and It's been great getting to know him. He's truly a great guy and we couldn't be more proud of him. Carbon and his new career are a match made in heaven. FML couldn't have gotten a better guy for the job and I'm sure they'll be very satisfied with his passion and his explosive enthusiasm as well as his exceptional writing skills and personality. We will certainly miss having him around but we know this this is the right move for him and we couldn't be happier for him. Carbon, my friend, take this opportunity and run with it. You deserve it! Make us proud. We'll meet up again down the road. All the best.
Is anybody else shaking their heads in amazement at this? Less than 2 years ago he showed up here full of exclamation points and assorted other punctuation. We've watched him go from a kid with tons of enthusiasm and little direction, to a man taking the reins for the ride of his life. I can't help but feel if DES had never found FerrariChat, Carbons life as it is today wouldn't exist. The friends and contacts he made on this board have literally changed his life. Tune in next week for another episode of 'As the FerrariChat Turns'.
Jim, I was thinking the same thing. When he got here he couldn't tell a testarossa from a 328. I've watched in awe as he's ridden in the breadvan, assorted other treasures, been given a personal tour of the P4 and it's stable mates by Mr. G and now begins a new career with Ferrari Market Letter. His willingness to share the details of his journey and his ability to do it with remarkable skill are wonderful. The best part is that he's just getting warmed up. I know we will see amazing things from Carbon in years to come.
Its a tribute to his determination as well as the generosity of many folks on this board who share a great passion
NNO, Thanks for taking me into your confidence several weeks ago. I look forward to some of the front page stories Gerald writes and seeing your nametag on them now. Enjoy the ride, take charge of the drive and milk it for all its worth. Something like this does not come around often and you were in the right place at the right time. And Wayne, thank you, Gerald could have gotten someone dry and boring but we know better................:>) Best of wishes my friend. Don't forget us little guys you met along the way. Best regards,
Carbon, i'm a bit late getting to the congrat. party.... but better late than never. Nice one, mate, as we say in England.
I remember 1 month ago this new job you got was a secret but I knew it was Ferrari related!! Congratulations! I'm 100% sure you will own a Ferrari one day. Take care.
How did I miss this thread? Oh yea, I haven't been to "off-topic" much lately. I hope DES will see these posts still. Congrat, and I am happy for you that you are stepping toward the right direction for your dream. You have been always nice to my threads, and w/ your enthusiasm (sp?) & writing skill, I learned somethings from you. Hope you'll be back to let us know how you're doing!
guess the results for the NNO's new job poll is inaccurate congratulations on the getting your dream job at such a young age!

Although i've only been here for just under 48 hours, i'm having a great time; "work" is great and i'm learning a lot... i don't even wanna go to my new apartment, i just wanna hang around in the office all day, all night... i love it here... There's so much to do, so much to learn and it's all so interesting... Thanks, everyone...
