I know that this isn't exactly the right place for an ad, but before listing my car for sale on ferrariads, I figured I'd put it out there in the tri-state region to see if any of you are interested or know someone who might be. With my second child on the way I need to upgrade to something with rear seats.

The car is a 1983 black/black 308 gts with about 69k miles. Jan '83 production date. I bought it from a dealership in Texas last June and have put 1000 miles on it since then. The car has been dead reliable. The temp needle never passes the center of the guage, even in 90 degree heat with the a/c on. The a/c was freshly charged just prior to my purchase and blows ice cold. The car doesn't smoke at all and pulls strong like a 4-valve 308 should. It tracks and brakes straight and handles incredibly well. This car is a lot of fun and has been the perfect first ferrari. Overall it is in great condition for the age and mileage. It is not a show car, but just a great driver.

As you can see from the pics, the car sits on updated wheels - 16 inch - and the front tires are a year old. The interior gets lots of compliments and is in overall excellent shape as well. The seats are perfect and the dash is nearly perfect. The targa top is in excellent shape as well. The car has a newer alpine cd stereo.

The negatives are that the car has no service records, it needs a clutch cable adjustment (pedal is sitting high), and the windows need help up and down. I was told that the major was done not long before my purchase (the owner traded this car in on a 348 spyder), but don't have documentation of that. If I was keeping the car, I'd have the major done this year.

The car came with 2 extra window motors, although I suspect the problem is the 23 year old, dried-up grease in the window mechanism. I also have a 'birdman' fuse block which I haven't installed, but will go along with the car. I installed a new battery last summer as well.

I gladly welcome anyone interested to come look at the car. I'm located in Nassau county.

As far as price goes, I have it listed in newsday at $28500 which has generated interest, but is obviously high. I have also turned down local dealer offers of $23k. That being said, I will entertain all serious offers in that range. I'd prefer to sell the car sooner than later, but am not desperate. You can PM me for my phone numbers and thanks for the interest.

    Best Regards,
    Simon

Looks like a nice car, but between the mileage, no service history, the windows not working properly and an unknown clutch problem 23k in my opinion is a fair price just depends on how fast your looking to sell. Good luck

I may be interested. However, I am in the market for a house, so I will have to wait until that purchase is made. I am really looking for a 348, but I could see myself jumping into the f-market at around $25K. I only like black 308's because the bumpers match the body color. I will give you a call if you still have it when I'm ready.
BTW, can one get service records from a carfax? I know when the car is inspected it gets logged. Is it the same for a major service. Have you ever tried doing a search in Texas for the VIN number at the local Ferrari dealers?

That sounds great, Jim. I agree about the black 308s looking the best because of the bumpers. I spoke to the service manager at Ferrari of Long Island about a national database of records and he said that they don't keep one, but I haven't tried any of the Texas dealerships. I think only certain states report services to carfax. Good luck with the house hunt.
