I feel that I must first apologise to all at f-chat who have followed my project from the very begining to the fact that I have not kept up with postings of the cambelt change. Very sorry to all concerned. One reason for the lack of any posts was due to having to keep my wife Christine happy with decorating and fitting out of the two main bedrooms as can be seen in these pics. Anyway, time was found to continue with the cambelt change and progress was made, the cambelt was replaced, camcovers repainted and other parts cleaned or replaced. My apologies again and hope that these pics make up for it a little bit.

Glad you mentioned the rain as the month of June has been stated as being the wettest since records began and they are now saying that the first 3 weeks of July we are going to have unsettled weather. Welcome to the great British Summer.

    Hi Nino,

Welcome back to FChat, we thought something happen to you. Good to know you were just working on the Honey Do List (closets). I see your wife Christine was nice enough to leave you the 2 small lower cubicles near the windows, just enough for a camera box, LoL. Just kiddin, I'm sure she is very happy with all of the closet space you built for her!

    cheers!

Hi Ted, hope you get your car back very soon. Regards the plenum/inlet manifold I also have not been able to locate any wrinkle paint in grey or silver so all I have done is to clean it with parrafin and then hose it down with water and it cleaned up very well.

Sometimes getting the car and the girl is more important than "closet space" my friend.

    Hi Nino,

Did you get your water pump rebuilt or did you get a new one?

Hi Lino, It appears that the water pump has been changed at some stage due to the score marks made by the impeller as can be seen in one of the pics. Because the pump has'nt done much work then all that I have done is remove the impeller, check the seal and refit.

Did you mention a while back that you where planning to go to the Ferrari factory in the near future or at least visit Italy, as we have booked a 10day holiday in Puglia for late August.

    Nino.

    Hi Nino,

The marks is why I had asked. When I got my belts done I sourced one from superperformance in the UK for a reasonable price. There is also a place in the states that can overhaul the pump with a superior bearing for about $350 USD, this where I plan to ship my old pump evantually to use as a spare if I keep the car that long.

Yes my son and a friend are scheduled for a factory tour in November. Hopefully it all works out, we are looking forward to the visit.

I was in Puglia 2 years ago for the first time with the family and we just loved it. We visited a village called Alberobello, I don't know if you have heard of it but a quick Internet search will show you the beautiful unique homes. It would be worth while to see it. I also enjoyed eating by the many seaside restaurants.

I Like the stainless cap nuts also. I noticed that you have paint on the surface of your cam-cover-ecu grounding posts. Did you scrape the paint off or are you not worried about it? I know these grounds can be the source of ecu troubles.

Hi Dave, once the engine was removed it was obvious that it required a bit of detailing to bring it back to its former glory. After a good clean all the oid rusty nuts and bolts that held in position the cam covers, cambelt covers and inlet manifold etc. were all replaced with stainless steel items obtained off ebay. Regards the grounding posts which obviously do require a good connection even though the tops of the posts are painted the grounding takes place through the actual threads of the mounting screws. Will post later today the final pics of a nice and clean engine.

At last after all this time I have got round to posting the final pics of the cambelt change. The engine re-fit went without any problems and I have covered around 1800miles since again with no problems.

The complete project from start to finish has taken 7months and has cost £1700 ($2720) in parts alone and with the origional purchase price of £9250 ($14800) I now own a very nice Mondial t for the grand total of £10950 ($17520) which in my opinion is not an expensive Ferrari.

Many thanks to all who have followed my project and for all the kind comments that I received.

    Final pics.
